The X Factor USA will air its third live performance show of the second season tonight November 14, 2012. It’s Divas week — what songs will your favorite artists sing?

The top 12 finalists are Beatrice Miller, Arin Ray, Carly Rose, Emblem3, Diamond White, Fifth Harmony, Jennel Garcia, Lyric 145, Paige Thomas, Tate Stevens and Vino Alan. Who is your favorite? Vote in our poll (bottom of page) while we wait for start of the show!

Judges’ comments: LA Reid: “You just returned to the competition! That, smoked.” Britney said Tina Turner would be proud. Simon agreed with LA and said Jennel has  was back in the game and returned more to her roots as far as looks and performance are concerned. Demi hoped that America would vote her higher in the ranks this week.

TATE STEVENS – TEAM LA REID
Song: Shania Twain’s “From This Moment”.
Judges’ comments: Britney said Tate was amazing and the performance was heartfelt. Demi said Tate is soooo good. Simon thought Tate was better than last week because he was given better direction and because he knew he was number one. Simon actually said he’d be happy to write him a five million dollar check. L.A. said that Simon could write that check.

DIAMOND WHITE – TEAM BRITNEY
Song: “Halo” by Beyonce
Judges’ Comments: LA said Diamond started out shaky but did much better 3/4 of the way through. He thought she picked a tough song with big shoes to fill but she filled them. Demi said the song choice was perfect for her. He called her a diva in the best possible way and said she gives everyone else a run for their money. Simon agreed that the second half of the song was much better. He advised her not to walk and sing at the same time. He then said he had a feeling that we’re watching a “future star.”

BEATRICE MILLER – TEAM BRITNEY
Song: Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time”.
Judges’ comments: L.A. did not like the song choice but called her cute and wondered how a 13-year-old can have that kind of voice. Demi called Beatrice freakin’ adorable and said she sounded more soulful than Demi thought she could. Demi actually liked her song choice and said it showed off a softer, more “soulful” side to her vocals. Simon said it was better than last week and likes her lower register better. He found the song boring. Britney said her performance was incredibly soulful and amazing. (I am counting the number of times Brit uses “amazing” tonight!

Song: Mashup of “ET” by Katy Perry and “We Will Rock You” by Queen
Judges’ comments: LA said it was better than last week’s disaster but thinks they’ve lost their way. Britney said she wants to see them do straight up hip-hop songs. Demi “didn’t get it” and thought the Katy Perry song was out of place. Simon said he got it and America will get it. He said they chose the song at midnight and was very impressed by how well they did despite little preparation time.

ARIN RAY – TEAM BRITNEY
Song: Madonna’s “Crazy For You.”
Judges’ comments: LA thought Arin struggled with his performance and said Arin was not worth a $5 million contract. Demi was bored and said he lacked soul. Simon said it was boring too. Britney disagreed since she’s the coach and thought Arin did a great job.

Song: Donna Summer’s “Last Dance”.
L.A. said she gets a pass because that was her best performance to date. Britney said it was the best Disco throwback yet and said it was like “a disco ball exploded onstage”. Simon agreed with LA that it was her best performance but he found the choreography behind her to be very distracting. Demi thought Paige nailed it but said she did not design the choreography.

Judges’ comments: LA thought it was a tough song and they had a tough start. He did say they got it together by the end. Britney was “extremely impressed” and thinks Simon is doing good job. Demi said they did an incredible job and thinks Simon is doing a good job with this group. Simon thinks they have a good shot at winning the competition.

Judges’ comments: L.A. said they could be looking at the winner. Demi said Carly is so good that she does not think this is her voice but it’s Celine herself hiding in there.  Simon thought it was incredible and said he doesn’t believe she’s a human being because one can’t sing like that at 13. Britney said she has chills all over after the spectacular performance.

Song: “Let’s Stay Together” by Tina Turner.
Judges’ comments: Britney called Vino’s voice soulful and said it works. Demi agreed and said Vino has an incredible, soulful voice. She called it boring even though she said she liked the performance better than last week’s. Simon said his voice is designed for “a moment” even though it was better last week. L.A. said Vino put his soul into the song and has a classic voice.

Song: Alicia Keys’ song “No One”.
Judges’ comments: LA said E3 are “complete superstars”. Britney called them “complete heartthrobs.” Demi loved their energy and said their performance was a huge improvement over last week. Simon called them “absolutely brilliant.

CECE FREY – TEAM DEMI
Song: “All By Myself” by Celine Dion
Judges’ comments: LA hated her outfit but said the performance was better than last week. He said he thinks she will once again be in the bottom. All Britney said is, “sorry, I just don’t get it.” Simon called it cabaret with too many gimmicks. He also said Demi is messing up the mentoring here. Demi called the criticism too harsh and thought CeCe nailed it. She also said CeCe wants to win more than any other contestant does.

  1. I think that all of the contestants did a good job with the exception of CeCe Frey. She was very shaky and off key at times. I think that her family not being there and the unexpected negative criticism are getting to her. Her song choice this week was too big for her and she didn’t have the confidence to nail the song. I’ve got my Hopper from DISH recording the show each week. It’s got 2,000 hours of recording time available so I don’t have to rush and watch what I’ve recorded. Overall I think that Britney’s group is doing the best although I was surprised by Arin Ray. The performance was a little boring and usually he is so flashy and upbeat. My DISH co-worker pointed out that you don’t have to do a slow song just because it’s Divas Week. Choose something fun and upbeat. Paige Thomas was the only one that fell in that category and I didn’t really like the arrangement of the song.
