THAT’S IT FOR THIS GROUP

–WEIRD, THAT’S ONLY 21! There must be some twist!

–And there is …just like last year. Simon tells 15 more contestants that he wants to meet with them at the judges’ homes for further decisions. Here are the contestants who made it into the newly-formed groups: Dinah J. Hansen, Owen Stuart, Ally Brooke, Lyric Da Queen, Camila Cabello, Brandon Hassan, Johnny Maxwell, One4Five, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Hamilton, Josh Metzler.

–Some notable eliminations tonight from the show include Jeffrey Gutt, Sophie-Tweed-Simmons, Freddie Combs.

–Each of the members of the categories are meeting their respective judges and all of them are excited. See which group got which judge below.

–Each mentor can only take 4 out of the six artists assigned to him/her to the live shows. So, each artist is now performing for their mentors! If they announce the top 20 tonight, we will post the results here. Something tells me the top 20 will be announced tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted here.

–TO GET TO THE TOP 20:

YOUNG ADULTS CATEGORY–DEMI LOVATO

–Jennel Garcia sings “I Kissed A Girl” by Katy Perry. She’s good, not great. Before she performed, Demi told her to tone things down. Afterwards, Demi confided in Nick Jonas that her advice deemed the light in Jenne’s eyes.

–Willie Jones sings “Nobody Knows” by Babyface. I liked it, but Nick said Willie flipflopped between country and R&B and he really needs to nail down his style.

–Jillian Jensen sings“Gravity” by Sara Bareilles. She was good. She and Demi have a great bond and for that reason alone, she may advance. Nick said “This may be out of line, but Jillian is sexy!”

–Nick Youngerman sings “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha. He was good and really fun to watch. But can he really WIN this competition?? Not sure he’ll make it out alive in this round.

–Paige Thomas sings “Turn Up The Music” by Chris Brown – Once again, her nerves and lack of confidence got the best of her. Demi confided in Nick that ever since her first performance blew the judges away, Paige has been struggling more and more with her lack of confidence. Nick asked Demi if she can mentor Paige back to where she first was. Demi looked part challenged by the idea and part hesitant.

–Cece Frey performs “I’m Sexy (And I Know It)” by LMFAO. Of course she does. BUT, lucky for her, right before her performance, Demi gave her the best advice possible: Tone down your confidence so she comes across more likable. Since she could not change her song last minute, CeCe really did well with the advice and made the song fun. I think she will advance now. Nick said had she come out confident on that song and took it seriously, she would have gone home for sure.

–That’s everyone in the Young Adults group. Which four will Demi advance? We probably won’t find out until tomorrow night. I’ll keep you posted.

THE GROUPS CATEGORY–SIMON COWELL

–Three brand new groups have been formed with the 15 remaining contestants which were set aside earlier. The first team to perform is Playback consisting of five boys: Austin Corini, Johnny Maxwell, Owen Stuart, Brandon Hassan, and Josh Metzler. They perform Hall and Oats “Rich Girl”. They were really good. Simon is impressed but guest mentor Marc Anthony does not get them and says he was bored.

–Emblem 3 performs “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by The Police. They were just OK and mess up during one part.

–Sister C performs? (I’ll get back to you guys on the sing name)–If I were going to bet, I think Simon is going to drop these gals in favor of the girl band they created.

–Another new group! Lyric 145 consisting of Lyric Da Queen with One4Five. They rap Miley Cyrus’ ‘Party in the USA’. And the KILLED IT!! Clearly the best.

–Dope Crisis performs Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass. After Lyric 145, these guys seemed average to me. I fear for their fate.

–Our last of the three groups contrived at boot camp are five girls who named themselves LYLAS consisting of Ally Brooke, Normani Hamilton, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui.  They perform Shontelle’s ‘Impossible’. Surprisingly, they’re good! Simon and Marc were both shocked and loved them. Some people are already saying Simon has found his female One Direction with these girls.

That’s everyone in the Groups group. Which four will Simon take with him to the live shows? We will find out tomorrow. But the groups look much better than they did last year. Simon will do well with them.

WHICH JUDGE GETS WHICH GROUP?

Britney Spears is mentoring the Teens–She’s happy! She JUST TWEETED: “Thank goodness I had @iamwill to help me. Always nice to have a 2nd opinion – especially with this group! They’re all so good!”

Simon Cowell is mentoring the dreaded Groups which as you remember was the first team to lose all of its members last year, leaving Paula Abdul useless for much of the season.

Demi Lovato is mentoring the Young Adults. Demi JUST Tweeted: “LOVE my group!!!!” And, “Young Adults = #dreamteam. You guys are awesome!!! #xfactor”

L.A. Reid is mentoring the Over 25s and he’s not thrilled. In fact, he slams his phone down when he finds out.

  1. I really loved this recap! I agree that Lyric 145 was the best performance of the night; I really think they have a chance at winning this. The group category doesn’t seem as doomed as it was last season; there is some real talent in the groups the judges created. A co-worker at DISH mentioned that all of the groups so far have shown immense talent, making this competition a tough one. But this hasn’t stopped us from trying to guess who the judges will eliminate; things are looking grim for Sister C. I can’t wait to see the others perform tonight; with my late train ride my Hopper is already programmed to record all of the drama. I have been putting the 2,000 hours of recording space to really good use with the amount of shows I watch. I hope that my favorites make it to the live shows; but until I see the rest of the competition, it’s too soon to say.
