Fox News Twitter Gets Hacked; Falsely Reports Obama Assassination

Early 4th of July morning, The Fox News Politics Twitter account reported that President Obama had been assassinated in Iowa with Vice-President Joe Biden set to take his place immediately.

“[Two] gunshot wounds have proved too much,” read one of the Tweets. “It’s a sad 4th for #America.” But wait, Obama is just fine, and Biden is still just the VP.

So, what happened? Turns out, the Fox News Politics Twitter account was hacked shortly after midnight and the false messages about the president’s early demise were left around 3:00 a.m.

The account was hacked by “The Script Kiddies.”  In an exclusive interview with SUNY Stony Brook’s student-run Think magazine, a reported member of the Script Kiddies stated they chose Fox News because “we figured their security would be just as much of a joke as their reporting.”

Justin Bieber’s Vanity Fair Cover Bombs In Sales

Everyone LOVES Justin Bieber… EVERYONE. Well, except readers of Vanity Fair.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Vanity Fair‘s February issue with The Biebs on its cover is the worst-selling issue for the mag in 12 years!! And if that weren’t bad enough, it is one of the top three worst sellers for the magazine since Graydon Carter took over as editor in chief in 1992.
The February issue, featuring the 17-year old teen heartthrob on the cover, has sold a mere 246,000 copies since its release.
But mag publicists should take note that a Bieber cover has been bad news for other mags as well: Biebs’ October 2010 Teen Vogue cover, a publication arguably more suited to Bieber’s fan base, sold 121,054 issues, roughly 12 percent below Teen Vogue’s 2010 average. Bieber’s April 2010, People cover sold 961,762 copies, a 25 percent dip below average sales and  the third worst seller for the weekly all of last year.
I am sure this news is sending shock waves in the Bieber PR camp.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Sets Box Office Record…Without Megan Fox

Looks like Shia LaBeouf does not need Megan Fox by his side to shatter box office records. Transformers: Dark of the Moon set a 4th of July weekend record with an estimated $97.4 million in ticket sales from Friday to Sunday. Its four-day earnings estimate is at $116.4 million. The movie’s total ticket sales since its Tuesday-night preview opening is a staggering $181.1 million. The previous record for the Independence Day three-day weekend record was set by Spider-Man 2 which brought in $88.2 million.

On the other end of the spectrum was another new release, Selena Gomez‘ Monte Carlo, which fizzled at the box office. The movie made only $8.8 million with a reported budget of $20 million. If sales do not pick up, this will be Gomez’s second straight box-office disappointment after 2010’s Ramona and Beezus.

Here are the top 10 movies for the four-day July 4 weekend:

1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, $116.4 million, $181.1 million total to date
2. Cars 2, $32.1 million, $123.0 million
3. Bad Teacher, $17.6 million, $63.0 million
4. Larry Crowne, $15.7 million, new release
5. Super 8, $9.5 million, $110.1 million
6. Monte Carlo, $8.8 million, new release

Gone For Good? Vinny Guadagnino Says ‘Buh Bye’ To Jersey Shore

It could be argued that they all should leave and go home, but reports claim that Vinny Guadagnino has abandoned his Seaside Heights housemates on the Jersey Shore for good!

Apparently, Vinny got in a fight with one of his cast mates and left the house feeling “burned out.” He headed home to Staten Island where he is right now instead of shooting the fifth season of the MTV hit reality show.
Vinny wanted to leave earlier in the week due to “being homesick,” but his fellow cast were able to talk him out of it. The cast was less lucky this time.

Javier Colon Owes A Big ‘Thank You’ To Justin Bieber For The Win!

Javier Colon was named the first ever winner of The Voice Wednesday night but he still can’t believe it’s for real.

Colon told Celebuzz in a post-win interview that he thought he had lost and was ready to congratulate co-finalist Dia Frampton when Carson Daly announced his name instead.

That’s fascinating considering his amazing talent, his favored status since day one, and his captivating stage presence, all of which was only amplified by the fact that Justin Bieber Tweeted to his then 10.6 million followers several times to vote for Colon in The Voice finale.

And if that weren’t enough, Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, also got behind the Twitter campaign and asked his almost 900K fans to do the same.

Despite such massive and unparalleled support for any of the other three finalists, Colon wasn’t convinced he’d win. “I was 100 percent in my mind, I was ready and prepared for Carson to say, ‘And the winner of The Voice is Dia Frampton.’ I was going to be okay with that because I absolutely love Dia. She is amazing and deserved a win as much as we all did,” Colon told Celebuzz.

OK, so, the win was unexpected for Colon, but, now, back to the possible game-changing Bieber plug–remember, only 2% of the votes separated Colon and runner-up Frampton. Did Colon know he would get the support of the second most popular celeb on Twitter before the finale? “Not at all,” Colon told Celebuzz. “Adam had played basketball with Justin at one point and knew his manager Scooter Braun, so they both tweeted out to their millions of followers to vote for me. Not sure if it was Adam’s connection to Justin or what, but he put his support behind me, and it meant a lot.”

Read the rest of Javier’s interview on Celebuzz where he talks about a collaboration with Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green, his upcoming album and what he thinks of Dia.
What do you think of Bieber’s support? Was that cool or did it give Javier an unfair advantage over the other contestants? Did it end up being the difference in who won or do you think Javier would have won anyway? Should Javier send a “thank you gift basket” to Biber?

Glee Cast Shakeup: Chord Overstreet Dropped; Others Promoted To Full-Time Cast

Glee creator and writer, Ryan Murphy, is shaking up the cast on Fox’s hit show.

Per EW, Chord Overstreet who plays Sam Evans will not be a series regular next season. But to lessen the blow a bit, Darren Criss (Blaine Anderson) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang) are getting promoted to full-time cast members.
Overstreet may make an occasional appearance on the show next season and seems to have taken the news well. He Tweeted: “well its been a good yr too bad its over, time for summer and starting fresh.”

Maria Shriver Files For Divorce

TMZ is reporting that Maria Shriver has filed for a divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

And TMZ also reports that there is no prenup!

Per court papers, Maria is asking for joint custody of their two minor kids (Patrick 17; Christopher 13), spousal support, attorneys’ fees and division of the marital property. Since there is no prenup, that means a 50/50 split!

Selena Gomez To Play Charlotte York On Sex & The City Prequel?

Rumors hit recently that a Sex and the City prequel may be in the works. But even if that rumor is becoming more and more confirmed lately, who could ever fill the younger Manolo Blahnik shoes of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, or Miranda?

Rumors have also swirled that Blake Lively could play the role of a younger Carrie Bradshaw. But we may also now have a candidate for Charlotte York, the character made famous by Kristin Davis.

Per The Daily CallerCandace Bushnell, the author of SATC, would love to have Selena Gomez take the role. “You know, I don’t know…Casting is like kismet. I’m going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking ‘she’d make a really good young Charlotte.'” Bushnell continued, “She’s so pretty. I was like…gosh, wouldn’t she be great? Am I right or wrong? I’m not good at this. If I say something like that, then the next thing I know, people are like, no!”

Back to the rumor of whether there will be a prequel at all, Candace also told The Daily Caller that she could see either of her two Sex and the City prequels, The Carrie Diaries or Summer and the City, being turned into a movie. “Definitely something on the screen,” Candace said. “Big or small screen.”

What do you think of the Gomez-Davis match up? I think it could work–the two do have a bit of a resemblance already even before movie makeup imposes its magical transformation.

Jersey Shore’s DJ Pauly D Sued For $4 Million Dollars

DJ Pauly D of Jersey Shore is being sued by… DJ Paulie!

Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio was hit with a $4 million trademark infringement lawsuit Thursday, filed by a Connecticut DJ, Paul Lis, who goes by the stage name, “DJ Paulie.”
DJ Paulie claims his long-established DJ business of 40 years hit the toilet because of the newer but now more famous DJ from Seaside Heights overshadowing him.

According to the New York Post, Lis’ attorney, Jose M. Rojas, says: “[Lis] formally trademarked the name ‘DJ Paulie’ and then came the ‘Jersey Shore’ which basically wiped him off the face of the map.” The lawsuit alleges that because MTV has flooded the internet with so much Jersey Shore information, it is now impossible to find any content or information on Lis.
The lawsuit alleges.”The reality television show [chronicles the lives of] a group of young adults pursuing a debauched lifestyle suggestive of loose morals, violence, intoxication and liberal profanity — the exact opposite of the reputation the Plaintiff, ‘DJ Paulie’ that [sic] he had spent decades cultivating.”
Delvecchio had previously tried to trademark his “Pauly D” nickname, claiming his and Lis’ businesses are sufficiently different to avoid confusion with consumers, but his attempts were denied.
Along with Pauly, MTV and hotels and other businesses that have contracts with him are named as defendants in this lawsuit.
