Mexican Police Abuse Bruce Beresford-Redman’s Cell Phone

TMZ has uncovered a pretty funny story. At least I think it’s funny.  Mexican police have had a ball with the cell phone they confiscated from former Survivor producer Bruce Brersford-Redman, the man accused of murdering his wife (OK, that part is obviously not funny).  Per Bruce’s attorney (actually a spokesman for Bruce’s attorney) Bruce has received an AT&T cell phone bill showing approximately $3,800 in charges incurred after Mexican authorities seized the phone.  Per TMZ, there were “numerous phone calls, international texts and roaming charges which were made while the phone was in the possession of the Mexican authorities.”

My Two Cents Worth: OK, you know, if you murder your wife, this should be the least of your worries. You kinda deserve it. And, maybe your attorney and the spokesperson for your attorney should stop worrying about the cell phone charges and focus instead on a defense on the murder allegations.

Larry King Retires From CNN – Announced on Twitter

BREAKING NEWS.

Twitter apparently has become the official news source via which celebrities quit showbiz. Or maybe Larry King has taken notes from Amanda Bynes on how to announce his retirement. Just like Amanda did so earlier in the month, Larry King announced Tuesday via Twitter that he is going to step down from Larry King Live.

The 76-year-old will not be leaving CNN altogether: He signed a new contract to host quarterly specials on the cable news channel. But his departure from prime time marks a major turning point for CNN, which has built its schedule around Larry King Live for 25 of the network’s 30 years on the air.  I mean, how can they have a Larry King Live without a Larry King?  You can read more about the story on Los Angeles Times

Steve Carell Leaving The Office

BREAKING CELEBRITY NEWS.

Steve Carell has just confirmed that he is leaving his  role on NBC’s The Office after next season.
Steve says:

“I just think it’s time. I want to fulfill my contract. When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go.  It doesn’t certainly mean the end of the show. I think it’s just a dynamic change to the show, which could be a good thing, actually. Add some new life and some new energy…I see it as a positive in general for the show. I didn’t see it as a huge thing and I certainly didn’t anticipate any sort of hubbub over it. I’m just not going to extend my contract, but I didn’t see it as a huge deal. And the show is great, and the ensemble is so strong, and the writers are great, so it’s just one part of that ensemble drifting off. They’ve incorporated so many new characters and so many new, great storylines that I have no doubt it’ll continue as strong if not stronger than ever.”

My Two Cents Worth: I think The Office has the best ensemble cast on TV. However, I just can’t imagine Dunder Mifflin without Michael Scott! It’s the same thing with American Idol; I just can’t imagine American Idol without Simon Cowell. I am hoping that I am wrong, but I just think both shows will tank given the respective blows to each cast.

Oprah, Lady Gaga, Sandra Bullock, Twilight Cast, Beyonce, Madonna Top Forbes Celebrity 100 List

Pants-less pop stars, late-night warriors and sexy vampires spiced up the fame game last year, withLady GagaConan O’Brien and Twilight superstars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson joining the Forbes Celebrity 100 List for the first time. But the big news is that the last 12 months was the year of the women! The annual list of the most powerful celebrities included 6 women in the top 10! I say, it’s about time. Rankings are based on earnings in the past 12 months, as well as visibility across print, television, radio, and online presence.

Earning $315 million over the past 12 months helped Oprah take over the number one spot from Angelina Jolie, who was 2009’s overall winner. Angelina fell to number 18 this year. Newcomer on the list with a surprising number 4 showing is Lady Gaga. Beyonce is at number 2 with earnings of $87 million thanks to her 90-plus date global tour, and a portfolio which includes album sales, her House of Dereon fashion line and a slew of endorsement deals. Sandra Bullock also makes the list at #9. Rounding out the top 10 for women is a surprise showing for Britney Spears at number 6 and Madonna at number 10.

As far as notable no-shows are concerned, Will Smith and 50 Cent both dropped off of the list because of their lack of presence in 2009; Smith made no new films and 50 Cent’s album sold a meager 500,000 copies. To see who else made or did not make the list, check out Forbes.

Sandra Bullock Divorce Is Finalized – Already!

WOW! Sandra Bullock filed for divorce from Jesse James April 23 and two months later, her divorce is already finalized! That’s some crazy fast justice. I have never heard of any state finalizing a divorce in less than 6 months. But I guess they do things a bit differently in Texas where Sandra filed her papers. This means Sandra can now proceed with adopting her baby as a single parent. Best wishes Ms. Sandra – hopefully this will stop all of the gossip about you and you can move on to happier times.

Michael Jackson Glove Sells For $190,000

If you paid $190,000 to buy something, what would you expect to get in return? If you ask Wanda Kelly of Los Angeles, her answer might differ a little from yours. I know I would buy a house. But $190,000 is how much Wanda paid for the glove Michael Jackson wore on his 1984 Victory Tour. After making the winning bid at Julien’s Auction at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Kelley said, “Let’s just say, I wasn’t walking out of here without that glove.” I really would like to know Wanda’s total worth to find out how much money one would have to have to be able to spend that much on a piece of celebrity history.

I am not the only one in awe here. The amount Wanda paid for the glove even took the auctioneers by surprise. The Swarovski-crystal-studded glove was expected to sell between $20,000 and $30,000 at the auction however, according to Darren Julien, the response from bidders was “unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.” He added that “People flew in from Asia, Russia, all over. Now that he’s gone, we now realize the true legend we lost.” Other Jackson items at the auction included a pair of stage-worn loafers that went for $90,000, a custom jacket he wore during a Barbara Walters interview that sold for $120,000, and one of the last autographs he signed on June 24, 2009, which went for $21,000. Now, I also wonder who is getting all of this money. I am hoping the answer is his kids.
