Avatar Set For Re-Release This Weekend – Cameron Adds Extra Footage [Video]

The biggest box-office hit of all time, Avatar, is being re-released on the big screen this weekend after an extremely-brief hiatus: Until the 12th of this month, the original movie was still being shown in a limited number of theaters.

The souped-up Special Edition of Avatar, which grossed $750 million in the U.S. and Canada alone during its initial run, includes nine minutes of new footage and will play on about 900 screens–all of which can project it in digital 3-D, including Imax.

The new footage will include an extended love scene between hero Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his Na’vi love, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), an extended death scene of Tsu’tey (Laz Alonso) and additional explanations on why the humans decide to wipe out the Na’vi.

You may call him “genius.” Or you may call him “greedy.” But because of this premature and revised re-release, I will also call out Avatar director, James Cameron, as “unfair” to the people who already dished out up to $20 or more per ticket to see the original Avatar only a short while ago who are now faced with the decision of whether or not to shell out more money to see the additional footage. And how about those that poured out even more dough to buy one of the 19 million copies of the movie already sold on DVD?

Cameron tries to explain the re-release by saying he thinks there were still people who wanted to see Avatar when the movie lost most of its 3-D screens to Alice in Wonderland in March. Cameron says Avatar was still selling out in theaters when the movie lost screens to Alice and other 3D movies, so, he decided three days after Alice was released that he would re-release Avatar in August. He then added the extra scenes because so many scenes had to be cut of the original release which he feels when added back, will more fully portray his original vision.

My Two Cents Worth: What I ask in response to all of that is: If this movie is being re-released solely for the people Cameron says missed out on seeing the original, and not simply out of greed, why add the footage he felt should be cut out in the first place? I just don’t buy that Cameron threw in the additional footage of a love scene for any other reason than just to make people go back for seconds or thirds so Avatar can break its own damn record. Whatever, it was a great movie either way the first time around and I am glad I saw it. You can do whatever you like with the re-release, but I just don’t need to spend another $20 to see an extra 9 minutes of film. Who’s with me?

P.S. Avatar will also be re-released in 14 overseas markets this weekend, including Britain, Russia, Australia, India and South Korea. The movie grossed $2 billion overseas during its first release.

Heidi Montag Hates Her Breast Implants

Ok ladies. If you ever want to have plastic surgery, talk to someone who has had that particular procedure done before and get advice.

Or, if you want to get G-sized boobs, don’t. Just don’t.  But if you still insist, how about you first wear a bra of that size, filled with whatever, for a day, and see how you feel walking around with bowling balls stuck on your chest. Just a thought. You could save yourself lot of pain and agony.

Or, just ask Heidi Montag what to do. Heidi, who by her own admission, has had almost every plastic surgery available to women, all in one day no less, is now having major regrets nine months later.

She tells Life & Style that she is still in severe pain from her surgeries and her body can’t handle the weight of those watermelon-sized implants. “My breasts are crushing me… I was taking painkillers but they weren’t working so I stopped. It hurt either way.”

 She says she can’t hug her dogs or wear normal clothing. Worst tragedy for her, she can’t even work out anymore. “I’m obsessed with fitness but it’s impossible to work out with these boobs,” she says. “It’s heartbreaking. I can’t live an everyday life. I feel trapped in my own body,” Heidi admits.”I’m desperate to go back to normal. I’m downgrading and going a little smaller, to a D or a double D.”

Woah! Heidi! No! I know DD’s are better than G’s, but in whose planet are DD boobs “normal?” You didn’t ask me, but let me tell you anyway sister, go for a C-cup and live a truly happy life. Trust me on this one. I know a thing or two on this subject.

As for the nose job she also had done, she said, “I’ve had my nose tape on 24 hours a day since November.  The tape is supposed to keep the swelling down and hold my nose in place the way Dr. Ryan sculpted it. I don’t want my nose to fall off like Michael Jackson’s.”

Good luck Heidi. I hope you find a surgeon that can help you get back to normal and not take advantage of you like other surgeons have in similar situations.

Drew Barrymore Loses Cool With Reporter

Drew Barrymore has always been an open book about her love life and personal problems resulting from growing up as a child actress in Hollywood, so, I am shocked to hear that there was a reporter who pushed Drew a bit too far. And Drew wasn’t shy about her feelings.

In an interview with the London Daily Standard, Drew went off on an interviewer who had spoken to Drew right before the London Daily Standard: “You should have heard this bitch I had to do an interview with before you. God, I wanted to punch her, she would just not drop the youth thing. I have no problem talking about it. I am not someone who is ashamed of my past. I’m actually really proud. I know I made a lot of mistakes, but they in turn were my life lessons. It’s actually good to get it done young and have a great life later. But yeah, man, I wanted to rip this woman’s face off. She just would not shut up about it.”
Drew did not name the interviewer or the publication she works for. But I guess if I ever run into Drew, I will make sure I will stay off the topic of her wilder younger days.

Paris Hilton’s Home Gets Invaded By Armed Man

Yesterday morning, Paris Hilton tweeted, “So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes [sic]. Cops are here arresting him.”

She also tweeted the photo below which is of the man being detained by cops.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrived at Paris’ residence around 6:30 a.m. and took the man, 31-year-old Nathan Lee Parada, into custody. He has since been booked on felony burglary charges and is being held on $50,000 bond at the Van Nuys jail.

Sadly for Paris, this isn’t the first time someone has tried to break into her home. Hilton was robbed of millions of dollars worth of diamonds in 2008.

Paris’ Publicist said: “I can confirm that in the early hours of this morning an armed man with two kitchen knives attempted to break in to Paris Hilton’s home when she was sleeping. The security cameras and alarm system were alerted and the police immediately came to the house and arrested the intruder who was attempting to break a window when they arrived. Paris is naturally shaken by the events but is unharmed and well. She is very thankful to her security team and the police for their swift and diligent response.”

Sheryl Crow Opens Breast Cancer Center

Way to go Sheryl Crow!

Yesterday marked the grand opening of The Sheryl Crow Imaging Center in Los Angeles, CA, which is “a state of the art breast imaging center featuring the latest advancements in digital screening and diagnostic imaging technologies,” according to a press release.

The Sheryl Crow Center is housed inside the Pink Lotus Breast Center which was founded by Crow’s surgeon, Kristi Funk, who treated a lump found in the singer’s breast in 2006 during a routine mammogram.
In addition to mammograms, The Sheryl Crow Center offers a comprehensive battery of medical services related to the breast, including clinical breast exams, diagnostic biopsies, genetic testing, surgery, radiation, nutrition and Chinese medicine.

Crow, a breast-cancer survivor herself, said: “Joining forces with the Pink Lotus Breast Center has provided me with a wonderful platform to create awareness and encourage the millions of American women over 40 to get their annual mammograms. Detecting breast cancer early is a woman’s best chance at survival, and digital full-field mammography is the gold standard of early detection.”

My two-cents worth: I personally know three beautiful women who are all battling breast cancer at this moment. A center like this is truly welcomed and Cheryl Crow deserves all of our gratitude for stepping up to help others after experiencing a personal tragedy herself.

Angelina Jolie Set to Make Directorial Debut In Feature Film

Angelina Jolie – Salt Premiere

Is there anything Angelina Jolie can’t do?

Oscar-winning actress, “Citizen of the World” award-winning humanitarian, and mother of six will no longer be the only titles which would accurately describe Jolie.

Add the title “movie director” to the mix as Jolie will be making her feature film directorial debut shortly for a love story set during the 1990’s Bosnian war.  The film will focus on a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war will have on their relationship.

Based on an original screenplay written by Jolie herself, the actors will be solely comprised of various ethnicities from the region of the former Yugoslavia. “The film is a love story, not a political statement,” Jolie said, “I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can.”

Jolie will produce the film alongside GK Films’ Academy Award-winning producer, Graham King, and King’s business partner, Tim Headington.

Well. What can I say, but you go girl.

Lady Gaga Plays Herself in Queen Of Twitter Video

   At this very second, Lady Gaga has 5,768,752 followers on Twitter. By the time you read this, she is sure to have added 20-50 more.

If that isn’t impressive enough, Gaga has now also ousted Britney Spears to become the person with the most number of Twitter followers. (Gaga also has the most followers of anyone on Facebook).

As a congratulations to herself, Gaga is now calling herself, “Queen of Twitter.” Another brilliant move for the smartest woman in music.

As a thank you to her fans Little Monsters, Lady Gaga produced this video. In it, she says, “”I wanted to thank all my beautiful little monsters for following me. I vow to never partake in celebrity online shenanigans. And I vow to always tweet and tweet again.”

Way to go Gaga for always keeping us entertained.

NBC Releases 60 Deleted Scenes From Season 6 of The Office!

Jake Pavelka Stars In Drop Dead Diva And Gets Hounded By Paparazzi

Did any of you catch my friend, Jake Pavelka, on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva Sunday? I did and thought he did great–but would love to know what you thought of his scenes! Leave a comment!

Here is a clip of a scene in case you missed it:

Pavelka is living a pretty crazy life these days–acting, flying, and training for a Triathlon.  And getting hounded by Paparazzi while he does all of it . He Tweeted this picture last week of the papps trying to get a glimpse of him while he was doing something as mundane as getting a haircut.

Here is the final product of what the papps got. I just think it’s funny and sad at the same time that a man can’t get a haircut in Hollywood without cameras rolling because there is such high demand for such videos. I do love this one because Pavelka doesn’t seem too bothered with it and because the camera man had me rolling with laughter with what he says about “triathlons” near the end of the video. I don’t know how Pavelka restrained himself from calling the cameraman out on obviously not knowing what a triathlon is.
