Rihanna Opens Up And Says “I Smile For Real Now”

Rihanna opened up in the December issue of Marie Claire UK about last year’s physical altercation with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and her views on what happened may surprise you.

Rihanna: “God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’ Why was it backfiring on me? But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.”

After the violent incident on the night of the 2009 Grammy Awards, Chris Brown pled guilty to assault. He was sentenced to more than 1,400 hours of community service and five years of probation.

Rihanna
does say that one of the more difficult things at the time was having to deal with what the media was saying about her and the incident.  “All this terrible stuff they say to you, it breaks you down,” she says. “[But] once you’re back on your feet — if you ever make it back on your feet — that’s the ultimate achievement.”

Like other abused women, Rihanna had a hard time breaking up with Chris Brown after the incident, but recalls the moment she finally knew the relationship was over. “I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. It was a different day. I felt different. I didn’t feel lonely. I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world. That was a great, great feeling.”

Others notice a difference in her as well. “I feel like I smile for real this time. The smiles come from inside, and it exudes in everything I do. People feel my energy is different. When I smile they can tell that it’s pure bliss and not just a cover up.”

Death At America’s Got Talent Auditions ?!

ONLY IN LA.

OK–I am stepping out of my celeb reporting ways for a minute and resorting back to my litigation days to give you all some good legal advice: If your wife goes missing, or if you posses drugs on your person, restrain yourself from trying out for a reality show the same day you report her missing. Or at least get rid of the drugs (for good). Deal?

E! Online reports that this weekend’s America’s Got Talent auditions in Los Angeles was upstaged by a dead body and a drug arrest. Per E!, Joe Smith (name changed to protect the guilty), a man who auditioned for the reality contest, was busted for drug possession. But that’s actually not the worst of his worries.  Smith’s arrest came after he was declared a “person of interest” in his wife’s death at the downtown L.A. hotel where tryouts were being held.  Ya, I am serious.
The LAPD confirms that Smith was taken into custody after admitting he had several Ecstasy pills on him. The admission came as he was being questioned in the death of his wife Laura, whose body was discovered earlier that day in a stairwell of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

Apparently, Smith had reported his wife missing to hotel security earlier in the day, but somehow managed to continue to tryout for the show.  The wife’s body was discovered sometime after the tryouts began Saturday.  No official cause of death has been released, but law enforcement sources say it appears accidental.

Smith was released on $10,000 bail early Sunday.
Update:
TMZ.com reports that Smith told police he and his wife took ecstasy on Friday night before going out on the town. Smith also said the two came home and eventually went to sleep. At 3am, his wife got out of bed and left the room. Smith assumed she was getting ice. When he woke up the next morning, she was not in the room.

After his audition, police interviewed Smith again which is when he told them the duo were on drugs the night before and that he still had some. That’s when Smith was arrested for drug possession and taken into custody.

Police suspect the wife fell from the 11th floor to the 3rd floor and have deferred the cause of death–it’s still undetermined whether her death was a suicide, homicide, or accident.

Mel Gibson Is Fired By The Hangover 2 And Liam Neeson Is Hired Instead

Mel Gibson was supposed to get his big comeback as a tattoo artist in a cameo in The Hangover 2. But then, supposedly the cast and crew objected and Gibson got fired yesterday. A day later, Gibson’s replacement has already been named: The Hangover 2 producers flew in Bradley Cooper’s A-Team co-star Liam Neeson to take Gibson’s place.

“I just got the call to do a one-day shoot on Hangover 2 as a tattooist in Thailand, and that’s all I know about it,” Neeson told Variety. “I just laughed my leg off when I saw The Hangover. I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV.”
Hangover Director Todd Phillips released a statement on Thursday after Gibson was cut: “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew,” he said.

Lisa Marie Presley Tells Oprah That Her Marriage To Michael Jackson Was Not A Sham

Did you catch Lisa Marie Presley on Oprah on Thursday? If not, I have part of the extremely moving interview below, thanks to AOL and Popeater.com.

Presley decided to do an interview and once and for all answer any questions the world may have about her relationship with her ex-husband, Michael Jackson. And she choose Oprah Winfrey as the lucky interviewer.

Presley started by saying: “Every time I’ve ever had an interview in the past, I tend to get very defensive because I was usually promoting something and it would always cross into my personal life. I wanted to sit and really have a conversation about things that are more on a personal level, before I do have an album coming out next year,” she said.

Presley said she was in England when she found out through a text from John Travolta that Jackson had died. She said she was “crying all day” before she had heard any news and could not understand why she was crying. Her reaction when she finally heard the news? “Real honest to goodness shock, not even tears. I was floored, honestly floored,” she said.

Presley said she didn’t know until right before the divorce that Jackson may have had a drug problem. “I didn’t really suspect and catch on until just before I filed for divorce. There was just an occasion, an incident where he had collapsed and he was in the hospital,” she described a1995 event when Jackson collapsed while rehearsing for an HBO concert and doctors blamed it on a viral infection.

“It was very confusing what was wrong. Every day there was a different report. And I couldn’t tell what was happening.  I couldn’t really get a straight answer about what was happening with him and I think we were all a little bit in the dark. At that point, I think I got from various indications that that was going on then.”

Presley wanted to make sure the world knew hers and Jackson’s love, marriage and romance was for real. “I honestly can tell you, it was every sense a normal marriage. One of the very highest points of my life was when things were going really well and he and I were united together and he and I had an understanding about some of the people and things that could go on around him and he was with me on those things and we were a unit and I could take care of him.  For some reason, I don’t know what happens when someone passes away and this is what’s come of it. But I’ve come to have all this love again and understanding for him. I don’t know why it had to take all that to have this happen. That upsets me a bit,” Presley said.

As to why the marriage ended, Presley said: “There was a very profound point in the marriage when he had to make a decision; was it the drugs and the sort of vampires or me? And he pushed me away.”
