Oh the heart-breaking price of fame….
Billy Ray Cyrus opened his achy broken heart to
GQ and said he is worried about the health and safety of his daughter,
Miley.
He told the mag, “Somewhere along this journey, both mine and Miley’s faith has been shaken,” and he believes he and his children are “under attack by Satan.”
In this open and gut-ripping interview, he tells the mag, “For the record, to set it straight, I want to tell you: I’ve never made a dime off of Miley. You got a lot of people have made percentages off of her. I’m proud to say to this day I’ve never made one commissioned dollar, or dime, off of my daughter.”
Here are the excerpts from the interview:
On why he was a no show at Miley’s 18th birthday party: “Because they were having it in a bar. It was wrong. It was for 21 year olds and up. Once again all them people, they all wanted me to fly out so that then when all the bad press came they could say, ‘Daddy endorsed this stuff.…’ If I would have went out there I would have been right in the middle of all this stuff that’s going on right now with the bong.”
On how he wishes there never was a Hannah Montana:
“It destroyed my family… I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just everybody be okay, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could.”
On why is Satan attacking his family?
“It’s the way it is. There has always been a battle between good and evil. Always will be. You think, ‘This is a chance to make family entertainment, bring families together…’ and look what it’s turned into.”
On his concerns for Miley
“She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger.. I want to get her sheltered from the storm. Stop the insanity just for a minute.”
On Miley being the next Kurt Cobain
“Kurt was one of those guys. That’s why I’m concerned about Miley. I think that Kurt’s world was just spinning so fast and he had so many people around him that didn’t help him. Like Anna Nicole Smith – you could see that train wreck coming… Michael Jackson. I was trying to reach out to Michael Jackson…I don’t know. I’m her daddy so maybe I’m a little sensitive to it, but now’s a real good time to make sure everything’s okay. An ounce of prevention’s worth a pound of cure.”
