Eminem Sets Digital Album Sales Record

A big congratulations goes out to Eminem who has become the first recording artist to sell a million digital copies of a single full album!

About the success in sales of Eminem’s Recovery, Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, said in a statement:

“Over the years, we’ve made a concerted effort to engage Em’s online fan base, so this achievement is especially rewarding.”

Recovery features the major hits Love The Way You Lie with Rihanna and Not Afraid.

Adele will next join Eminem in celebrating this milestone since her sophomore release, 21, is at 992,000 digital copies sold in just 19 weeks. Lady Gaga is also very close to reaching the same milestone, with more than 900,000 digital sales (and counting) of her 2008 release, The Fame.

What’s the best single track of all time? The Black Eyed Peas’ I Got A Feeling has sold seven+ million downloads.

Miley Cyrus On SNL: Watch Her Best Skits

VIDEO CLIPS OF THE DAY.

Did you catch Miley Cyrus hosting Saturday Night Live? If you didn’t, have no worries, I have two of the show’s best skits here.

First one is SNL‘s Vanessa Bayer playing Cyrus while Cyrus herself impersonates Justin Bieber

Later in the SNL broadcast, Cyrus parodied Fergie in a skit involving two other Black Eyed Peas members, Taboo (played by Andy Samberg) and apl.d.ap (played by Kenan Thompson). Khloe Kardashian makes an appearance here as well.

Taboo Of Black Eyed Peas Hugs It Out With His Fans At Book Signing – EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS & VIDEO

Los Angeles, CA, February 11, 2011 – Taboo, a founding member of the six-time Grammy Award–winning Black Eyed Peas, was at Barnes & Noble at The Grove for a fan meet and greet and book signing of his autobiography, Fallin’ Up.

Taboo greeted each fan with a hug and took pictures and signed autographs all night long for each and every one who had lined up to meet the superstar. He even taught me a dance move, and you can see the picture below…I told him I loved the BEP’s Super Bowl halftime show and I am happy he stood up against all the haters of the performance!

But, back to the book. Fellow band mate, Fergie writes: “I’ve seen a talented, sensitive, lost young boy become a strong man with integrity and dignity. Fallin’ Up will give you an inside look at the life of this inspiring individual.”

Fallin’ Up shares the inspiring story of Taboo’s rise from the mean streets of East L.A. to the heights of international fame. Few bands can ever hope to achieve the sort of global success that the record-breaking Black Eyed Peas have attained, selling more than 30 million albums since their formation in 1995.

The group recently broke the all-time record for longest successive stay at the #1 position on Billboard’s Hot 100 list, and their song I Gotta Feeling became the first single to surpass six million digital downloads in the United States. But in this revealing autobiography—the first book to emerge from the group—founding member Taboo reminds us that great accomplishments are often rooted in humble beginnings.

Born in East L.A., in an area notorious for street gangs and poverty, Taboo (Jaime Luis Gómez)  was haunted by that environment, which seemed certain to shape his destiny. Yet, steered by his dreams to be a performer and assisted by fate, the young Taboo was thrown a rope when he discovered the world of hip-hop, where talent and love of the music itself transcended all. Supported by his one true champion, his grandmother Aurora, Taboo chased his dreams with a relentless tenacity. He refused to surrender, regardless of what life threw at him— including becoming a father at age eighteen.

But even after the Black Eyed Peas beat seemingly insurmountable odds and achieved stardom, it wasn’t all Grammys and platinum albums. Taboo delivers a searingly honest account of his collision with fame’s demons, including his almost career-ending struggle with drug addiction and alcoholism. He takes us deep into a world few of us can even imagine: a show-business heaven that became a self-made hell. But inspired by the love of his family and tapping anew into the wellspring of self-belief that had sustained him in the past, Taboo learns to keep his demons at bay, his addictions in check.

Full of intimate glances into the highest reaches of the music industry—including a visit to Sting’s castle, hanging out with Bono and U2, and, at forty-one thousand feet, the high-flyingest karaoke ever—Fallin’ Up takes readers on a revealing, personal journey through stardom—and one man’s triumph over adversity times two.

Taboo On Black Eyed Peas’ Super Bowl Gig: “You Can’t Please Everybody!”

Am I the only one that loved the Black Eyed Peasperformance during halftime of last Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV?

OK, sure, there were some major sound issues, but you seriously can’t tell me you did not enjoy the glitz, the dancing, the “love”, or the Tron-lighted dancers? Can you? Maybe you can…’cause a lot of people seem to have hated it. Continue reading

Black Eyed Peas Delivered “Love” To The Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Black Eyed Peas were the first pop act allowed to perform at Super Bowl halftime since Janet Jackson’s bare boob shocked the world and stole the show in 2004.

After Fergie and will.i.am. sang I Gotta Feeling, Boom Boom Pow, and a medley of other BEP classics, they were joined on stage by Slash. He and Fergie performed Guns ‘N Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine before Usher was lowered in to perform OMG.

The singing was accompanied by hundreds of TRON-inspired, neon-lighted dancers. But the glitzy dancing and even the heart-moving “love” sign could not mask the out-of-tune vocal issues plaguing the entire show. Still, I think the BEP were the most exciting thing to happen to the halftime festivities in quite a long time.

Here is a recap of the halftime show. Did you guys love it or hate it?

Black Eyed Peas & James Cameron Team Up To Make 3D Movie!

Everywhere I turn, I see an ad for a movie in 3D. So, this was bound to happen and I think it is a very cool idea!

Black Eyed Peas have teamed up with movie director James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic) to create a 3-D tour movie. Amazing – this, I can’t wait for.  “Right now we are planning our 3-D tour movie and James Cameron is directing it,” will.i.am told Vibe. will.i.am continued on his humble way and stated, “We have the biggest director because we are the biggest group on the planet. The Peas are filming it in South America. People will be able to see us in the theater with the 3-D glasses and everything.” Continue reading
