Leonardo DiCaprio Never Cared About Box Office Success

In the October 2011 issue of GQ magazineLeonardo DiCaprio opens up about his role in Clint Eastwood’s movie playing FBI legend, J. Edgar Hoover. Leo also dishes on his long-lasting career, his father and why he’s a huge box office success.

Here are some highlights from the interview which hits newsstands September 20, 2011.

On his impressive box office success:
“Throughout my career, I never knew which movies of mine made money and which didn’t. When Titanic came out, people would say, ‘Do you realize what a success this is?’ And I’d say, ‘Yeah, yeah, it’s a hit.’ The [money] stuff never mattered to me until I was into my thirties and got interested in producing, and people would show me charts explaining what finances a movie, what you’ll make from foreign, what you’ll make from domestic, what you need to make an R-rated film that’s a comedy versus a drama. But even now I say that unless you want to prove that you can carry a film with your name, continuously trying to achieve box-office success is a dead end.” Continue reading

Good for Bundchen who made the majority of that stash by making $45 million herself. Continue reading

Johnny Depp: “My Kids Idolize Iron Man More Than Jack Sparrow!”

Imagine being a kid and your dad being Johnny Depp – how friggin’ cool would that be? Captain Jack Sparrow himself! But apparently, that’s not as cool as having Iron Man as your father.

Depp recently sat down with Extra to chat up his upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and out came the news that his kids idolize Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man more than they do Depp’s role as Jack Sparrow.
Depp said, “Bob Downey, we’ve known one another for a million years. He and his wife came over for dinner and my son just couldn’t believe that he was sitting next to Iron Man, so I saw Captain Jack leave my son’s eyes and Iron Man was the ticket.” Continue reading

Movie Fans Are Raising Money To Send M. Night Shyamalan Back To Film School

BIZARRE BUT TRUE.

Remember the chills you felt back in 1999 when you first watched The Sixth Sense, directed by then-newcomer M. Night Shyamalan? We all knew we had found our next Steven Spielberg.

Well, we weren’t exactly right and it hasn’t exactly been a bed of roses for Shyamalan ever since.
Sure, his string of movies after, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, The Lady In The Water, have all made money. They’ve made money because we keep buying tickets in the hopes that we once again find the magic that was the Sixth Sense…but each time, we walk away more disappointed than the last.  Continue reading
