Mag Editor Resigns After Labeling Rihanna With A Racial Slur

Dutch magazine Jackie ran an article on Rihanna, calling her the ‘ultimate Nig*abitch’ with a ghetto ass and a golden throat. This was a title which of course and rightfully so did not sit well with Rihanna. The mag also labeled Rihanna as a Jamaican when in fact she is from Barbados–Wikipedia much?

After the superstar took out her anger on Twitter, the mag’s editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke ended up resigning. Hoeke apologized via a Facebook statement and said the article was intended as a “joke” and that she erroneously believed the term to be an “acceptable form of slang” when it came before her for approval. She asked that we believe there to be no malice behind the words.

The apology came after Rihanna Tweeted that she found the mag disrespectful and desperate, and a “poor representation of the evolution of human rights.” I can’t say that I disagree.

“I hope you can read English,” Rihanna tweeted to the editor-in-chief. “Because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights!” Rihanna continued, “I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense.”

Rihanna also put two words together herself: “Well, with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you: F— you!!”Watch some news coverage on this story in the video clip below:
