Hank Williams fired ESPN MNF

Are you ready for some football? Monday night football? Ya, well, good, but you’re gonna have to do it without Hank Williams, Jr. who has now officially been fired by ESPN.

The firing, which at first seemed to be just a one-week suspension, ends the country singer’s 20-year run as the voice to the Monday Night Football intro theme song, first on ABC and now on ESPN.

I guess ESPN did not like Hank’s comparison of President Obama to Hitler.

“We have decided to part ways with Hank Williams, Jr. We appreciate his contributions over the past years, however, the success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue,” said ESPN in a statement.

Minutes after getting fired, Williams said he quit on his website, “After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision. By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You [ESPN] stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment, Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.”

I wonder whose voice we will hear this Monday night? Any suggestions?
