Madonna Responds To M.I.A. Middle Finger Incident: "It Was Out Of Place"

Looks like Madonna isn't exactly too happy with her Super Bowl half-time co-performer M.I.A. who decided to flip the bird to the record-setting 111.3 million people watching Super Bowl XVLI.

The Material Girl called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest this morning and said:

"I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it." 

Madonna continued, "I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do. Here was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point?"

Madonna also told Carson Daly later on that M.I.A. called her to apologize, but Madonna still thinks "It was just out of place."
