Adam Lambert lost some Twitter followers yesterday – And he is perplexed by the reason for the defection by what usually seem to be some of the most die-hard, loyal fans in the entertainment business.
What could have caused so much unease with these otherwise loyal fans? Apparently they did not like what Lambert had to say about TV shows which in his opinion take advantage of teenage mothers.
Lambert Tweeted yesterday:
This Teen Mom show on MTV is so depressing. I know it’s “real life” but shouldn’t there be programming that inspires kids to shoot higher? #glorifyingwhitetrash
I’m not saying that all teen moms are white trash. Don’t misunderstand. Yet, most of the ones on that show seem to be. I do, however, think they’re are being exploited a bit.
Today, Lambert noticed he had fewer Twitter followers than yesterday – he didn’t say how many followers he has lost, but for a musician who still has over 800,000 followers, it must have been a significant enough number for Lambert to actually notice.
He Tweeted today:

I am a big fan of reality shows — But only the ones which do not portray people in demeaning ways or take advantage of their lust for fame. And my gut tells me to avoid the show Lambert finds “depressing,” Teen Mom. So, I have to agree with Lambert that there just has to be more inspirational but just as entertaining programming ideas out there for our teens.
Why do you think some of Lambert’s fans were offended by his comments? Was Lambert’s opinion about Teen Mom that outrageous or offensive? Or, perhaps the departed fans did not appreciate the reference to “white trash?” Thoughts?

Eminem dominated the music category. He won Favorite Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Male Musician. His song with Rihanna, Love the Way You Lie, also won Favorite Song and Music Video.
Kim Kardashian Tweeted the photo of her with the award for Favorite TV Guilty Pleasure which went to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Sources connected with “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” tell TMZ Camille Grammer is quitting the show … and she’s even lawyered up to negotiate an out.
Sources tell us Camille is upset with the way she’s been portrayed on the show. And, we’re told, Camille did the show because Kelsey Grammer wanted her to, and now that she’s a single mom, “circumstances have changed.”
We’re told Camille’s lawyer and Bravo are already discussing a “settlement” and an offer is on the table for the terms of her departure.
A rep for Bravo tells TMZ, “No decision has been made for season 2.” Bravo says they just filmed the “dramatic” reunion show and questions will be answered.
Disgruntled celebrities using Twitter and Facebook to fight their battles with others may have to start watching what their fingers type into cyberspace or be held liable for defamation.
Courtney Love has been sued in a “groundbreaking” case which probably will set a legal precedent for whether celebs can be held responsible for intentionally putting false or defamatory statements on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
This suit will hold particular importance because it will establish whether a public figure’s comments on social networks should be held to the same libel laws that apply to news media or if tweets should be given, as defamation expert Alonzo Wickers explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “the same latitude as an op-ed piece or a letter to the editor.”
In this particular case, Love is being sued by fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir for destruction of her reputation as a result of Tweets Love sent in March 2009. According to THR, Love charged Simorangkir with being “a drug-pushing prostitute with a history of assault and battery who lost custody of her own child and capitalized on Love’s fame before stealing from her.”
The lawsuit is set to being January 18 in Los Angeles and is unbelievably only the first defamation suit brought against a celebrity because of comments made on Twitter. “There has never been anything like this case before,” Simorangkir’s attorney Bryan Freedman told THR.
Wickers says, “The way Twitter is evolving, it seems to be more of a means to express opinion. I’ll be interested to see if the court gives people posting on Twitter more latitude than other media.”
As part of his world domination tour, Justin Bieber stopped by Vanity Fair for an interview with the magazine.
On his legions of screaming girls, Bieber tells the mag that he knows the girls scream for him because he’s “Justin Bieber,” but continues, “Not trying to be arrogant, but if I walked down the street and a girl saw me, she might take a look back because maybe I’m good-looking, right?”

Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is experiencing continued success with her career, having recently received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But not everything has been smooth sailing in her private life. After her second child, Moses, was born in 2006, Paltrow said she had reached the lowest and weakest point of her life.
She says it was her husband who recognized that she might be suffering from postpartum depression after having her second child and was the first to use the actual term.
“I thought postpartum depression meant you were sobbing every single day and incapable of looking after a child,” Paltrow says. “But there are different shades of it and depths of it, which is why I think it’s so important for women to talk about it. It was a trying time. I felt like a failure.”
