Matthew Perry Feels “Selfish” For Creating “Mr. Sunshine” – EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

Matthew Perry returns to TV Wednesday night with a brand new comedy, Mr. Sunshine. The show also stars his The West Wing co-star Allison Janney. Also on the show are James Lesure (Lipstick Jungle, The New Adventures of Old Christine), Nate Torrence (She’s Out of My League, Get Smart), David Pressman, Andrea Anders, David Pressman, and Portia Doubleday.

Perry told ET: “I think I did maybe the most selfish thing a person can do, I created a television show for myself. I was playing a video game for about three years and decided I needed to do something with my life and I created a TV show.”

On Mr. Sunshine, Perry plays Ben, a self absorbed manager of a San Diego sports arena called the Sunshine Center. But if you are looking for this show to replace Friends, don’t hold your breath. There will be no guest-starring of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow or David Schwimmer on the first season of Perry’s new show.

“From the gate, I wanted to show that this was something new,” he told ET. “Of course, it would be great to work with all of them again someday. If we are lucky enough to have the show go on long enough, it would be wonderful.”

Mr. Sunshine will have the following stars make their appearances though: Lost‘s Jorge Garcia, tennis great Jimmy Connors, James Taylor and Nick Jonas.

Mr. Sunshine premieres Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC, temporarily replacing Friends‘ co-star Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town.
