All My Children Canceled – So Is One Life To Live

ABC confirmed today the long-heard rumors that All My Children and One Life to Live will both be cancelled shortly.

AMC will go off air September 2011 and OLTL January 2012. The network will replace the soaps with two new shows, The Chew and The Revolution.

ABC’s other soap, General Hospital, will not be affected by ABC’s daytime changes.

The cancellation of two powerhouse shows is course shocking news to fans of both since One Life to Live has been on air since 1968 and All My Children since 1970.

Disney/ABC Television President Brian Frons said in a statement: “We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming these days. While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can’t help but recognize how bittersweet the change is…Each of the shows has touched millions and millions of viewers and informed the social consciousness. It has been a privilege to work with the extraordinary teams who brought the residents of Pine Valley and Llanview to life each day, and we thank the cast, crew, producers and most especially the fans for their commitment to the shows through their history.”
Wow.

Video: Petra Nemcova’s Waltz: “A Vision From Heaven”

On Monday’s Dancing with the Stars, Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin danced the Waltz to You Raise Me Up in the hopes that others would get the same hope and inspiration out of the dance as she gets from this song.
Petra spoke of her return to Thailand after the Tsunami had devastated the country and this is the song she listened to for the easing of her frustrations after meeting all the homeless children there. The song also served as the impetus behind Petra establishing her charity.
Petra looked so elegant and graceful as she lightly floated like an angel across the ballroom.
The judges gave Petra the highest score of the night (tied with Hines Ward) and this is what they had to say:
Carrie Ann (8): “I think that’s what makes this dance special. Your heart was all over the moves. You’ve gone from supermodel to super graceful inspirational dancer.”
Len (9): “It had grace, it had elegance. It had fluid movements. This season, it’s my favorite…For me, at this moment, you’re the one.”
Bruno (8): “You’re like a vision from heaven and you danced like an angel. Your improvement is incredible. Your beauty is great but your heart is even more beautiful.”
Total score: 25

Video: Learn How To Kiss Soap Opera Style–From Susan Lucci

VIDEO CLIP OF THE DAY.

Yes, it’s true.  Susan Lucci of All My Children totally made out Wednesday with anchor Brian Kilmeade of Fox & Friends.

Don’t get too excited. The kiss was actually staged to show how you too can kiss soap-opera style. And who better to teach us this type-o-smooch than Lucci who has been on the soap since 1970 and smacked lips with or married just about every man who ever walked through –or hell probably even Mapquested–Pine Valley.

“First of all, there’s a lot of eye contact, Brian,” Lucci said. She then got close. Real close. And said, “You can even go like this and hide it a little bit.”

Any worries I had were turned into utter ease and now, I can’t wait to watch the episode. Continue reading

My Generation Premieres On ABC Tonight – EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS/VIDEO

My Generation, one of the new fall TV shows I have been looking forward to watching, premieres tonight on ABC.  The show’s concept intrigues me: A film crew which made an unreleased documentary about nine members of an Austin high school Class of 2000 returns to see what happened to them after a tumultuous decade that included 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan, Enron and more.  The film crew follows the personal stories of these nine friends and the promises they thought their futures held, all told through the camera of a documentary film crew.

My Generation stars Michael Stahl David as Steven, Jaime King as Jacqueline, Kelli Garner as Dawn, Keir O’Donnell as Kenneth, Mehcad Brooks as Rolly, Julian Morris as Anders, Daniella Alonso as Brenda, Anne Son as Caroline, Sebastian Sozzi as Falcon and Elizabeth Keener as the filmmaker.

Based on a Swedish format entitled On God’s HighwayMy Generation was created and written by Noah Hawley (The Unusuals, Bones), who is also an executive producer along with Warren Littlefield, Henrik Bastin, Peter Magnusson and Martin Persson. Craig Gillespie directed the pilot.

I recently met up with the cast of My Generation at the 2010 ABC Red Carpet Premiere Event.

Michael Bolton Performs At Concert Minutes After Dancing w/The Stars –EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS & VIDEO

Mere minutes after collecting his unfair and disappointing score of 16/30 for dancing the Viennese Waltz as his debut dance routine on Dancing with the Stars, Michael Bolton rushed from the DWTS studios to The Grove next door and performed at an outdoor concert, Songs for Hope, to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

Chelsie Hightower, his partner on DWTS, joined him on stage between songs to urge the audience to vote for the duo known as Team Bolt Tower.

If you liked Bolton’s dance, vote for him by calling 1-800-868-3402!

Watch the short clip below to hear Bolton describe the Songs for Hope event and to talk about his feelings on his DWTS debut performance. Then watch the remaining videos of the songs he performed Monday night at Songs for Hope.
Definitely watch this video of Bolton paying tribute to Pavarotti by singing Nessun Dorma. Make sure you watch in the highest resolution. Bolton is known for his powerful but melodic voice, but who knew he had this powerful of a voice. The entire crowd was moved by this performance:
