Barbara Walters has released her 2010 list of The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year. Some of the ones selected are obvious choices and some are just downright weird. Below is the full list, minus two mystery honorees which will only be revealed during Barb’s hour-long special which airs next week.
Even Barbara admits that the list is a bit strange. “We have quite an eclectic list this year, but every subject has truly fascinated and entertained us this year,” she said.
The most obvious choice on the list for me is Kate Middleton who announced earlier this month that she and England’s Prince William will tie the knot this coming April. Since the announcement, Kate has been the hot subject of every news and tabloid source, so, I guess we do really want to know more about her.
As much as Justin Bieber has dominated the entertainment news this year, Barbara would have had to turn on deaf ears not to include him, so, yes, the Biebs made the list as well.
When three of the year’s most popular Halloween costumes come from the same show, then, that public interest translates into inclusion on Barb’s list. So, that’s why the entire cast of The Jersey Shore, including The Situation, Snooki, and Pauly D, made the cut.
Sandra Bullock had the most amazing year on one hand, winning the Oscar, topping Forbes’ list of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood and adopting a baby. She also had the worst year of her life when her husband was found cheating on her – a situation which ended in a quickie divorce. So, ya, Sandra is on the list.
Betty White. Need I say why?
Sarah Palin?! YEP, she made it. Again. That makes it three years in a row for this Alaskan. I for one would rather have seen her daughter, Bristol Palin, make this list. I mean after all it was Bristol who had the country abuzz during her controversial stint on Dancing with the Stars.
LeBron James may have broken the heart of every single Clevelander when he signed on to play basketball for the Miami Heat, but he somehow endeared his way on to Barb’s list.
Finally, Jennifer Lopez made the list presumably for what she will do on American Idolnext year because I can’t think of any reason why she was fascinating this year.
Anyone you feel should have been included but who was not? Who do you think the mystery missing two honorees are? Mark Zuckerberg? Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson duo? Lindsey Lohan? Mel Gibson? Kim Kardashian? Only Barb knows…
Barbara’s ABC special airs Thursday, December 9 at 10PM.
Our friends at Newsy sent us this video discussing the list!
I reported yesterday that major celebs like Justin Timberlake, Ryan Seacrest, Usher, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian are going off of Twitter and Facebook starting this Wednesday until $1 million dollars is raised for AIDS awareness for Alicia Key’s charity, Keep a Child Alive.
Here is the first poster that has come out of the campaign signifying the death of Kim Kardashian’s digital life. The poster reads: “Kim Kardashian Is Dead. [She] sacrificed her digital life to give real life to millions of others affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. That means no more Facebook or Twitter until we buy her life back. Visit BuyLife.org or text ‘KIM’ to ‘90999’ to buy her life now.”
Steve Johnson is a Buffalo Bills wide receiver. Apparently, Steve has a one-way Twitter line to God because after he dropped what would have been an overtime game-winning touchdown in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he decided to Tweet God and let him know how he felt about the drop. Leslie Nielsen, the actor best known for starring in comedies such as Airplane! and the Naked Gun film franchise, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia at a hospital near his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was 84.
Leslie had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks and was surrounded by his “lovely wife and friends” when he passed away.
She may not have won the competition but Jackie Evancho, the 10-year old phenom discovered by America’s Got Talent with an out-of-this-world operatic voice, has set a Billboard record with the release of the album “O Holy Night.”
The album sold 239,000 copies in its first-week of release, is ranked number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and made Evnacho the top-selling debut artist of 2010. Not too shabby for a pre-teen.
“Jackie Evancho is one of the purest and finest vocalists I’ve ever heard, and the initial response to her debut release has been phenomenal,” said Steve Barnett, Chairman of Columbia Records.
In a first of its kind, big-time celebs are actually going radio-silent just to prove a point and raise funds for charity.
Stars such as Usher, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Ryan Seacrest, Kim Kardashian, and Justin Timberlake will go dark on all online activities starting Wednesday, December 1.
The Digital Life Sacrifice event will raise money for Alicia’s charity, Keep a Child Alive and raise awareness for World AIDS Day. As soon as $1 million is raised to help families with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India, the celebs will sign back online.
“This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention,” Alicia told the Associated Press.
The celebs have also filmed their “last tweet and testament” videos which show each star lying in a coffin.
Hey Twilight saga fans – Can’t wait until Breaking Dawn hits the theaters November 18, 2011? Me either.
Well, Director Bill Condon has thrown us all a bone by sending the first pic from the movie via Twitter, and, well, it’s a doozy!
What did he Tweet? It’s a real still shot from the movie which may not make any sense to anyone who has not read the Twilight books, but which is crystal clear to us Twihards: A shot of Bella in bed, clutching a fist full of feathers.
Oh, how I can’t wait….
Here it is….It’s not much, but it’s just enough to make you get anxious for the release of the movie in less than a year…
The choreographer of Burlesque, Denise Faye, came to the Grove with a couple of the movie’s dancers and taught a few cool dance moves to Extra‘s Mario Lopez. Watch the video below!
