Celebrity Apprentice: Show Recap

Another week of craziness went down on Celebrity Apprentice and this time, it was Gary Busey and Niki Taylor who were in charge of Backbone and A.S.A.P. teams, respectively.

You know you were waiting all season for Busey to take charge, admit it!

Oh poor Busey. Although he was named Project Manager, he never seemed to be fully in charge. Of anything. He seemed discombobulated throughout the whole episode which is hard to do considering he spent half the show shooting the breeze with teammate Jose Canseco – to the point that Mark McGrath took video evidence of the two wasting time in case he needed proof in the boardroom.

But despite his lackadaisical yet somehow manic project management style, it wasn’t Busey who lost the task. In fact, his team won overwhelmingly over the Taylor-lead female team which left Taylor as the one hearing the dreaded “You’re fired!” words from Donald Trump.

In case you missed the show, here is a recap:

This week, our favorite B-List celebrities were tasked with promotion of camping gear and RV’s through a display in middle of New York city.

Taylor seemed to be up to the task at the get go. She picked the theme of “camping in the 21st century” after she and fellow contestant and Playboy Playmate Hope Dworaczyk figured out what century we currently live in. Taylor then assigned each celeb on her team a room in the RV to decorate; a tactic which seemed like a pretty solid form of delegation at the time.
Not before long, lots of bickering broke out on both teams involving just about everyone. NeNe Leakes (Atlanta’s Real Housewives) and Star Jones started their feud when Jones once again tried to take full control of the team. Taylor and Dionne Warwick openely had a disagreement in front of customers during the presentation part of the task. Warwick went so far as to call Taylor a “hussy” behind her back after the argument ended.
Taylor was not the only one disgruntled with Warwick. Marlee Matlin labeled Warwick the weakest link when Donald Trump, Jr. came on site for a visit with Team A.S.A.P.
On the men’s side, McGrath seemed to be one of the few busting ass to get the job done while Busey and Canseco did absolutely nothing for long stretches of time. Country singer John Rich became heated when Canseco called Rich’s country RV jingle “hickish,” and Survivor’s Richard Hatch implied country music fans are uneducated.
Somehow Busey was unaffected or unaware of all the tension on Backbone. He told Ivanka Trump: “It’s going great. Every team member I have is like a color of the rainbow!” Not sure what rainbow Busey dreams up in his head.

In the Trump boardroom, things got eerily boring. Taylor took full responsibility for her team’s loss and laid dead. There was no arguing, no mudslinging, no almost fist matches. But Taylor’s lay down was a move which Trump surprisingly admired.

“Niki, you’re basically willing to take responsibility for your loss? I respect that. Niki you’re fantastic, but other than that, you’re fired,” said the Donald.

Justin Bieber Beats Michael Jackson As New Box Office King

Justin Bieber is a happy teen tonight. His Justin Bieber: Never Say Never film has now become the most successful concert-themed movie, surpassing Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Never Say Never has earned $72.2 million at the domestic box ticket sales office through Sunday March 20. This Is It grossed $72.1 million domestically.

This Is It did much better worldwide, grossing $189.1 million overseas, totaling $261.2 million when added to US sales.

Never Say Never has only grossed $10.8 million at the international box office in comparison, but Paramount believes the movie could eventually earn $20 million internationally. Where has the movie done best overseas? Latin America, where Bieber has the strongest fan base.

How does Bieber feel about beating the great MJ in US sales? He Tweeted today:

“INSANE!! MJ is still the greatest and my hero but We are so proud of this and so grateful to the fans for making NEVER SAY NEVER 3D the highest grossing concert doc of ALL TIME!! THANK YOU!!! NEVER SAY NEVER!”

Confirmed: L.A. Reid Will Judge Simon Cowell’s ‘The X Factor’

It’s finally official after weeks of speculation: Simon Cowell has confirmed record-producer Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid as the first judge (other than himself) on the The X Factor. Cowell said of his choice:

“L.A. was my number one choice to sit alongside me on the show. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest ever music executives and of course a fantastic writer and producer. I am thrilled he has agreed to join the show, and for any artist auditioning, they know they have the chance to meet a true star-maker.”

L.A. Reid is a perfect pick as a judge for a singing competition. He has after all helped launch the careers of Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber and countless others.

In an official press release from the network, Reid stated:

“I am proud to stand next to my dear friend Simon Cowell, one of the world’s most gifted and charismatic talent magnets. ‘The X Factor’ provides an extraordinary opportunity for aspiring artists of every age and genre to showcase their unique talents. I truly look forward to discovering our next generation of superstars.”

In case you want to be on the show, auditions for The X Factor begin on March 27th in Los Angeles with stops in Miami, Newark, Seattle, Chicago and Dallas. You just need to be twelve years old or older. The prize? A cool five-million dollar recording contract.

The X Factor premieres this fall on FOX.

Charlie Sheen To Make $7M Off His ‘Violent Torpedo’ Tour

Just in case any of you were starting to feel sorry for the supposed-jobless Charlie Sheen, you can stop right now. He will be just fine. Financially speaking anyway.

Sure, he lost a $2 million-per-episode gig when CBS fired him from Two and a Half Men, but, he can now fall back on a $7 million deal he made with with Live Nation for his Violent Torpedo tour. Yes, say it with me, “Charlie Sheen is #WINNING.”

The first two shows of Charlie Sheen LIVE: My Violent Torpedo of Truth tour sold out in just 18 minutes. So, of course, additional dates and cities were added and they have or will probably all sell out as well.
Sources tell TMZ that Charlie will get 85% of the profits from his 21-day tour, projected to average between $250,000 – $275,000 for each show. He will also rake in additional $$ for after-party appearances and merchandising. Who says unemployment doesn’t pay…

Adrianne Palicki’s ‘Wonder Woman’ Costume Revealed

NBC has unveiled the first image of former Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki in the new Wonder Woman costume. The image (seen in full when you click “Read More” from our homepage or below here) looks like one of those “what’s wrong from this picture?” quizzes.

NBC’s new version of Wonder Woman has traded in her signature booty shorts and red boots for spandex leggings and blue boots. Are you kidding me?

But I guess some people like the new look, including Lynda Carter, the actress who played the role in the original television series in the 1970’s.

“I think she looks fabulous,” Carter told E! “It’s a new look and, jeez, her body looks fantastic.”

OK, Lynda, you do have a point there.

What do you think of this new look? Love it or hate it?

‘American Idol’ Sends Home One Of Its Own…

Seems as if the male contestants on American Idol can breathe a collective sigh of relief and feel safe..at least for a little while because for the second week in a row, the bottom three contestants during elimination night were all female.

Thursday night, it was the 21-year-old Karen Rodriguez from New York who received the fewest fan votes and was sent packing.
She did a great job on her last song with an English and Spanish rendition of Mariah Carey’s Hero but the performance was not strong enough to persuade all three judges to unanimously use the season’s one-time save on her. Judge Randy Jackson delivered the bad news: “This is not unanimous. The judges here are not going to use the save tonight.”

Karen, a student at the esteemed Berklee College of Music, was the last remaining contestant who got on the show via Idol‘s new online audition system on Myspace.

“It’s like I’ve been on this journey for such a long time now, and this is my last opportunity,” Rodriguez said right before singing her last song. “I’m trying not to cry.”

Who rounded out the bottom three? It was Haley Reinhart and Naima Adedapo.

Brad Womack Tells The Media To Back Off!

Brad Womack is asking the media to lay off! Honestly, I can’t say I blame him! Ever since 13.8 million viewers tuned in to the three-hour Bachelor finale Monday night to see Womack get on one knee and propose to Emily Maynard, I have read nothing on the couple but doom and gloom stories which gloat that the lovebirds have already broken up.

If they have not broken up already, which Womack says they have not, what couple could possibly withstand all this negativity and scrutiny? To battle some of the BS, Womack and Maynard have taken to the press and issued this joint statement and plea:

“At long last, Emily and I can be open to the world and each other about our relationship. Though we are madly in love, it has been a bumpy couple of months for us and our priority right now is to focus on our relationship. We hope that you can respect our privacy as we return to normalcy and begin our off-screen lives together.”

Brad and Emily – You get my full cooperation. I know your relationship blossomed in the most public of arena, however, you two do deserve the privacy that non-reality couples enjoy on a daily basis…I wish the two of you the best and a long, joyful and bump-less life! Just make sure you check back in with us every once in a while because some of us are eagerly awaiting some happy news from you two!

Jodie Foster Loves Mel Gibson

Jodie Foster has a soft spot for her Beaver co-star Mel Gibson. She told The Hollywood Reporter magazine: “God, I love that man…The performance he gave in this movie, I will always be grateful for. He brought a lifetime of pain to the character that we’ve been talking about for years, that I knew was part of his psyche and who he is. It’s part of him that is beautiful and that I want people to know, too.”

Foster and Gibson have known each other and been very close friends since 1994 when they met on the set of Maverick. Lucky for Gibson, Foster has remained by his side when the whole world seems to have turned its back. “He’s so incredibly loving and sensitive, he really is. He is the most loved actor I have ever worked with on a movie. And he’s not saintly, and he’s got a big mouth, and he’ll do gross things your nephew would do. But I knew the minute I met him that I would love him the rest of my life.”

Gibson had confided in Foster about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva before the world found out every detail and she was right there by his side when the first set of the now infamous voice mails were publicly released. The two were on the set of The Beaver for some re-shoots. Foster recalls: “It was a bad situation. His assistant called me: ‘Come to the trailer!’ And I went to his trailer, and he was a mess. Then he came on set, and he didn’t have any makeup on, anything. He came in and sat down on the chair and said, ‘OK, roll it,’ and did two takes that were just beautiful. Then he got on the plane and left.”

And the rest, as we all know too painfully, is history…
You can read the rest of the interview in the newest issue of The Hollywood Reporter on sale in NYC and LA on Thursday.
