“Teen Beach Movie,” part of the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise which introduced a generation to movie musicals, follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady and McKenzie, who together ride the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, Wet Side Story.

Below are Teen Beach Movie stars Maia Mitchell and Garrett Clayton sporting some cool ’60s inspired fashion from the flick with stylist tips from Daniel Musto!
Kicking off summer is all about kicking off those heavy shoes and throwing on something lighter. Slipping into a pair of mod sneakers is always comfortable… but, wearing a pair with sections removed is both on-trend AND super cool for the hottest season of the year! You can also show off the look of a Teen Beach Movie dress while keeping cool around the middle. Pair a top and skirt together in identical mod fabrics, but make sure the top hits below your belt line. You achieve a streamline look, while your belly button gets some ventilation! SCORE!

When it comes to accessories, the sixties were ALL about chunky, chunky, chunky! A quick thick bangle looks awesome with wide-framed round sunglasses. It’s no biggie to get the look of Twiggy!

Beach hunks deserve summer appeal, too! The hottest trends for our favorite dudes must always be SIMPLE to achieve! A fun way to mix up the normal is to pair a light-weight, long-sleeve tee with denim shorts. Roll up the sleeves AND the shorts and you will be stopping traffic outside the soda pop shop. If you like a classic look, throw on high-top converse… if you like a bit of a risk, do the same thing, but roll them down to show off your ankles and cool down.

If you want to find the way to your crush’s heart… start by wearing jackets she can use to warm up at the baseball game. Girls LOVE a nylon track jacket and so do I! You can achieve that “greaser” look easily by sticking to blacks, whites, and greys.

Sometimes an all-white look can be overwhelming. If you want to achieve the brightness of white without glowing under the sun rays, wear a herringbone or plaid that has white in it, and dress it up with bright-white accessories. TIP: Whenever your outfit color blocks at the waist, it also helps your figure to belt it over the seam.

If your mod pattern is overwhelming, but you still need an enhanced waistline, think monochromatic! Make sure your belt is the same color as the base of the pattern and you can add an incognito curve.

An easy way to be prepared for chilly summer nights is to tie a light sweater around your neck. This rule applies for boys AND girls. Just make sure you test-drive the combo before you leave to make sure the sweater looks cool layered over your look!

If you think that leather pants are too “hard” for your feminine style, pair them with some girly wedges and a cozy top. It will bring them to life without looking too tough.

There is nothing hotter than a guy in a pair of jeans and a white tee. Easily bring the look to life by throwing a red bandanna in your back pocket. Put some thought into your sneaker choice, because your shoe will complete the story. A classic Converse high top with minimal studding proves to the streets that you’re taking over!
