Robert Downey Jr. found out the hard way yesterday that he is not the superhero he portrays on the Iron Man franchise, but he proved that he may have some special human powers of his own.

A Massachusetts mother, Heather Denno, took her 1 1/2-year-old son Jaxson to meet ‘Iron Man’ when she found out Downey was filming “The Judge,” in her hometown of Sunderland.

Downey was kind enough to go over to Jaxson and introduce himself. But Jaxson was not at all happy to be meeting the plain-clothed Tony Stark instead of Iron Man. So, the confused little boy burst out in tears! His mom said later, “I said to my son, ‘Hey, here’s ‘Iron Man,’ but he didn’t have the red suit on so Jaxson put his hands over his face and got upset.”

All was good in the end when Downey sprung into action and spoke with the child to calm him down. “He was fine as soon as [Downey] talked to him,” Heather Denno told People, explaining that her son “was so confused because I kept telling him it was Iron Man and he knew it wasn’t. Well, not Iron Man in the suit.”

Per Jaxson’s mom, Downey was “sweet and nurturing,” and she told The Boston Globe that she could tell he’s a dad.
