“The Voice” Season 4 continues with its second week of battle rounds tonight April 23, 2013. Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Usher will continue pairing up their contestants to sing duets for their lives in tonight’s battle round.

TEAM SHAKIRA
1. Brandon Roush vs.Shawna P. They duel on “A Piece Of My Heart” by Janice Joplin.
Judges’ comments: Adam said they were badass and playing on even field despite their age difference. Blake says Brandon looks like Sean Penn after Adam said Blake used to have Brandon’s long curly locks. Usher loved them both and pointed out Brandon’s Joe Cocker voice. He also said Shawna’s voice is like fine wine. Shakira said Brandon gave 150%. She added no man has ever sang a Janice Joplin song this well before.
Round winner: Shawna P.
Steal: No. Brandon Roush goes home and is eliminated.
2. Cathia vs. Mary Miranda. The ladies fight it out on Shakira’s ‘Antes De Las Seis’
Judges’ comments: Adam said it was beautiful even though he did not understand a word of the Spanish song. He’d pick Mary even though he says they are both great singers. Blake said even though he did not understand any of it, he loved every syllable of it, adding Cathia blew him away the most. He also joked that even though he did not understand the song, he thought it was about him and how much they ladies love him. Usher says Shakira is narcissistic to chose her own song.
Round winner: Mary.
Steal: Usher uses his last steal to take Cathia on as she was walking off stage in tears. I love Usher.
TEAM ADAM
1. Duncan Kamakana vs. Sarah Simmons. They two battle it out on Lady Antebellum’s “Wanted You More”
Judges’ comments: Blake loved it and said Sarah is one of his favorite singers he has heard in his life! He added that she has a “crystal clear” voice that can drift into a beautiful falsetto or raspiness. I would think he picks her 😉 Usher compliments Duncan on his confidence which probably drives women crazy. He also says Sarah did an incredible job.
Round winner: Sarah Simmons
Steal: No. Duncan Kamakana is eliminated.
2. Amy Whitcomb vs. Agina Alvarez
Round winner: Amy Whitcomb (battle not shown.). Agina Alvarez is eliminated.
TEAM BLAKE
Justin Rivers vs. The Morgan Twins
Round winner: Justin Rivers (battle was not aired). The Morgan Twins were eliminated.
TEAM USHER
Chelsea Mohindroo v. Michelle Chamuel
Round winner: Michelle Chamuel (battle not shown). Chelsea Mohindroo is eliminated.
