“The Amazing Race” airs its eighth episode of season 22 tonight April 14, 2013. The six remaining teams will travel from Botswana to Switzerland. LIVE SHOW BLOG:
This leg of the race starts at The Royal Tree Lodge in Africa. Bates & Anthony are the first team to depart, heading to Zurich, Switzerland. All teams end up on the same flight, so, everyone is on equal footing. Once teams land, they have to get their clue and head to Grindelwald. Once there, they have to find an alpine shepherd for yet another clue. Some teams are there, but, the shepherd won’t even get there until 8:55am. SO, that gives other teams time to catch up.
From here, teams must head to the base of the mountain by train. Chuck and Wynona are arguing because he is always disappointed with her timing and speed. She’s getting fed up with him.
Teams must use rescue dogs to travel now. Caroline and Jennifer’s dog is refusing to get on the train. Another team helped them get the dog on board. The teams have to take the dogs to the top of the mountain for their next clue.
Next clue is a Roadblock: “Who Wants To Enjoy The Sights” which requires them to climb out of an upper observation window and travel across a mountain 6,000 feet for their next clue.
Once done, teams have to get back on train for their next clue. Bates and Anthony get on first but the train is waiting for other teams. Time for train to take off but Chuck & Wynona and Mehgan and Joey are not there yet.
From there, teams must join the local work force, get a sled to go up a hill and get some cheese. Bates & Anthony are way ahead of the crowd. The hill is extremely slippery. Katie is slowing everyone behind her down. Bates & Anthony got their block of cheese and are on way back down. Caroline & Jennifer keep dropping their block. Joey & Mehgan and Chuck & Wynona finally arrive on site too.
Bates & Anthony are the first team to head to the pit stop again. Max & Katie are done as well as are Mona & Beth, It’s a race to the Pit Stop.
1st – Bates and Anthony. They win a trip for two to Bora Bora.
2nd – Mona and Beth
3rd – Max and Katie
4th – Caroline and Jennifer
5th – Joey and Meghan
Chuck and Wynona actually arrived as the fifth team—BUT, Wynona got a 30 minute penalty because she did not take the cheese down the hill the accepted way, she rolled it down the hill instead. While waiting during the penalty period, Joey and Meghan checked in ahead of them.
WHO WAS ELIMINATED OFF OF AMAZING RACE TONIGHT:
Chuck and Wynona are the last team to check in at the pit stop and are eliminated tonight!
