When Ke$ha first came under fire for her song Die Young after the horrific Connecticut shooting in Newtown last week., she claimed that she was ‘forced’ to sing the now-offensive song–a song she had co-written.

Because people didn’t buy her defense, she’s now trying to clarify what she meant when she said she was forced to sing a song she had actually helped write.

“After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word,” the singer/lyricist said, adding:

“I did have some concerns about the phrase ‘die young’ in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that’s one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song.

“But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.”

OK–Ke$ha, we get it. You’re sorry now. Apology accepted. Let’s move on America to the more important issues at hand regarding all of what we all lost last Friday.
