Sad news out of Kansas City this morning: Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, shot and killed his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins (the mother of his 3-month-old baby), in her home around 8 a.m. Belcher then drove to Arrowhead Stadium where he shot and killed himself (shot in the head) as two assistant coaches were trying to calm him down.

Police spokesman Darin Snapp confirmed the murder-suicide. He says a 911 call was placed by the mother of Belcher’s victim, reporting her daughter’s death. Minutes later another call came in from the stadium.

The Kansas City Chiefs released a statement this morning which partly read: “We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.”
