Former “Real Housewives of New York City” star and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel and her husband Jason Hoppy are getting a divorce. The two were married in
2010 and have a daughter, Bryn who was born that same year.

Frankel told E! News: “It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating.” She added, “This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family.”

The couple’s two-year marriage has long been rumored to be on the rocks so this sad news does not come at a surprise.

“We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter [Bryn] who is and will always remain our first priority,” Bethenny explained. “This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us.”

Earlier in the day, the reality star Tweeted: “I am heartbroken. I am sad. We will work through this as a family.”

Since the news of the separation broke, Frankel took to twitter to thank everyone for their support saying “You give me somuch love, and I am so grateful. It feels like your words could get someone through anything.”

The couple’s relationship was chronicled in two Bravo reality series- Bethenny
Getting Married?” followed the couple throughout their engagement and their
subsequent walk down the isle. A second reality show, “Bethenny Ever After”
chronicled her first year of their marriage and motherhood. Prior to joining the
“Housewives” franchise, Frankel was a finalist on the Martha Stewart version of “the
Apprentice” and after wrapping her Bravo series; she competed on “Skating with
Celebrities.”

If the couple decides to divorce, it could get messy; Frankel has parlayed her
housewife success into a billion dollar empire. She is the founder of Skinny Girl
cocktails and in 2011 sold it to Fortune Brands’ Beam Global for an estimated $100
million dollars. Frankel has recently expanded the brand to include shapewear and
nutritional supplements. She has also authored four books, released for books and
has a talk show slated to premiere in 2013.

We wish the couple a cordial separation.
