Kirstie Alley has a tell-all memoir, The Art of Men, that she’s promoting this week and while doing so, has revealed lots of hot personal tidbits about herself and her past loves. In an interview with Barbara Walters which aired this morning, Barbs asked about some of those relationships, including an affair with Patrick Swayze and all the rumors about the sexuality of John Travolta, Kirstie’s self-proclaimed “greatest love of my life.”

“I know John with all my heart and soul; he’s not gay,” Kirstie claimed, adding her own thoughts on why the gay rumors persist about John: “I think in some weird way, in Hollywood, if someone gets big enough and famous enough, and they’re not out doing drugs and they’re not womanizing, what do you say about them?”

Travolta is married, happily, to Kelly Preston. But that does not stop all of the gay rumors or Kirstie’s public proclamation of love for him. “Believe me, it took everything I had inside, outside, whatever, to not run off and marry John and be with John for the rest of my life,” she said.

So, why didn’t she just run off with John when she admits that love for him hit her instantly from the moment they met on the set of Look Who’s Talking in 1989? “I feel like when you marry someone, you’re supposed to work hard at it and you’re supposed to make it work,” Kirstie explained while adding that it would have been just too perfect with John.
