One of the perks of being an Olympian is that you run into celebrities you’d never otherwise meet by just hangin’ around the ol’ village.
Take Lauren Perdue for example. Even though Perdue is one of America’s top swimmers, and hails from my Alma mater, the University of Virginia, she’s making more noise with her Tweets about running into a huge celebrity while in London than she is with her breaststrokes.
That’s because the swimmer ran into LeBron James and got invited to dinner by the NBA champ and Team USA member.
Just before the games began at the Olympics today, Perdue, who competes today in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay, excitedly Tweeted, “Lebron James just invited me to dinner… Um wuuuutttt?!?”
Perdue dished on the details to the Charlotte Observer. She said that today the “Dream Team” hung out with the swimmers at a USA Olympic function. It was then that LeBron extended a dinner invite to Perdue.
“He was kind of joking,” she said. “But he was basically like, ‘Would you like to eat with me at the dining hall?’ And I said, ‘Um, I’m sorry, I have a curfew.'”

“So I turned [LeBron] down, yeah.”

Important note to make here about the engaged LeBron: Perdue made sure to say that LeBron was “gracious” and certainly didn’t imply that he was asking her to anything other than a meal at the Olympic Village dining hall.
