Katie Holmes C Magazine interview

C Magazine could have hit pay dirt asking the right questions when it just happened to score an interview with Katie Holmes exactly one day before she filed for a surprising divorce from Tom Cruise.

But, like the rest of us, the mag did not know what newsworthy event would take place the very next day. So, now, left with a somewhat incomplete interview, the editors are trying to see if Holmes gave any clues in the words she spoke the day before the divorce filing.

In its upcoming September issue which has Holmes gracing the cover in a Tom Ford dress, the actress says: “I’m ready to take on some more challenging roles.” Could this have been a hint of things to come? Probably, not by itself. Katie added, “I feel like I worked so much at such a young age that I really wanted to have life experiences. I feel more balanced and like I have more to bring to the table. I always felt like I wanted to catch up [in my personal life] to what I was doing [in my career].”
When the mag asked Katie if daughter Suri brings her closer to her soon-to-be estranged husband, Holmes responded, “I don’t know. I mean…I don’t know. People have been having babies a long time.”
Now, if that is not a red flag of trouble in seemingly-paradise, I don’t know what is.  Not sure if the editors followed up on this seemingly-bizarre answer about the father of your child and your current husband.

Another major red flag was that Katie never ever mentioned Cruise by name–not once during pages and pages of transcriptions.

After Holmes filed for divorce, the interviewer Kelsey McKinnon started to look over Katie’s words to see if she gave any major clues to the impending divorce. She told WWD of the encounter: “Going back over the tapes, there were signs: Holmes was certainly very aware of herself, laying a couple cards on the table but never showing her whole hand.”
