Over a hundred thousand self-proclaimed geeks flock to Comic-Con in San Diego annually this time of year in the hopes of filling their swag bags with posters and buttons featuring their favorite comic book heroes.
But nothing anyone else snagged up at the SD Convention Center exhibition hall so far this weekend even comes close to what one lucky fan of The Big Bang Theory got Friday: a trip to outer space.
Now, I know, you’re thinking that can’t possibly be true.
But it is.
This is how it all went down. All the adult fans of BBT who asked the cast a question at the panel were each given a silver envelope. One of those envelopes contained a ticket for a space flight from XCOR Aerospace on the Lynx Experience.And the incredibly lucky winner? Mercedes Becerra of Paso Robles, CA who is pictured with the cast below.
The trip was first offered by former NASA astronaut Richard Searfoss to “BBT” cast member Simon Helberg, whose character Howard left for space at the end of Season 5. When Helberg declined the trip, the ticket found its way to the lucky winner at Comic-Con.
After the prize was awarded at the main panel for the hit CBS show, cast members Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Mayim Bialik, and Melissa Rauch met up with Renee Bargh of Extra at Comic-Con and were joined on stage by the winner, Mercedes Beccerra.
