American Idol made history when two of its past contestants got engaged to each other during its live results show! Yes, I’m talking about Diana DeGarmo who lost to Fantasia Barrino in the third season and Ace Young, the hottie who competed on Idol’s fifth season.

The duo fell in love when they both worked on Broadway. During Wednesday’s live telecast, Ryan Seacrest invited them on stage because he thought they were “adorable.” But we all knew very quickly that this was not your ordinary moment. In a pre-planned moment which clearly took DeGarmo by surprise, Seacrest asked for the lights to be dimmed. Ace then got on one knee and nervously proposed to his now fiance, because, yes, of course, she said yes.

Not long after the history-making event took place on the Idol stage, Seacrest Tweeted this photo with the caption, “Not shockingly, my eyes started welling up when that happened.”
