The Voice aired its first battle round March 5, 2012. Now that the blind auditions are over, the four mentors/coaches select two members of their team to “battle” against one another. One of the two performers will be sent home each night.
The coaches enlist the help of music industry professionals to help train their team singers. Team Adam gets Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke; Team Blake gets Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson; Team Cee Lo gets Ne-Yo and Babyface and Team Christina gets Jewel and Lionel Richie.
Tonight’s Recap: Each judge starts the battle round with 12 members who will go head to head against each other. Each mentor has to cut his team down to six singers before the live shows start.
TEAM ADAM: Adam’s first pairing is Tony Lucca and Chris Cauley. The two will sing a duet of Beautiful Day by U2.
Judges Decision: Blake said he expected Tony to dominate the stage but Chris was better. So he picks Chris as winner. Christina said both were very good and she selected Tony. Cee-Lo felt that Tony articulated more clearly and he went with Tony. Adam felt they both did an amazing job, blowing him away. But he chose Tony to advance to the live show, eliminating Chris.

Judges Decision: Christina thinks they were both on pitch but felt that Adley was the stronger of the two. Cee-Lo said Raelynn is adorable but Adley has more experience. He picked Adley. Adam thought both did a good job but he’d pick Raelynn because she is more unique. Blake picked Raelynn. Adley Stump is eliminated.

Second pairing for Team Blake was Jordis Unga and Brian Fuente singing Ironic by Alanis Morissette.
Judges Decision: Christina thought there were pitchy moments but liked Jordis. Cee-Lo preferred Brian because he was aggressive. Adam chose Jordis. Blake wants a rock singer for his team and Adam is a definition of rock for him. He went with Jordis though. Brian Fuente was eliminated.
TEAM CHRISTINIA: Chris Mann faced Monique Benabou on The Power Of Love by Celine Dion.
Judges Decision: Cee-Lo thought they both sounded wonderful and he picked Chris. Adam picked Chris. Blake picked Monique. Christina said she loved them both–said Monique stepped up to the plate and Chris was wonderful. She picked Chris as the winner. Monique Benabou is eliminated.

Second pairing for Team Christina was Anthony Evans and Jesse Campbell singing If I Aint Got You” by Alicia Keys.
Judges’ decision: Cee-Lo was blown away. Adam thinks the level of talent is insane but picks Jesse. Blake thought it was so good it was ridiculous and picks Jesse. Christina is upset she has to send one of these gems home. Jesse wins and advances to the live show. Anthony Evans is eliminated.

TEAM CEE-LO. Cheesa and Angie Johnson sang Total Eclipse of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler.
Judges Decision: Adam thought the performance started shaky but then they both sang powerfully, picking Cheesa. Blake said they each had great moments and chose Angie. Christina thought it was a great match and chose Angie. Cee-Lo felt like a proud father and picked Cheesa to advance. Angie Johnson is eliminated.
