Glee‘s Cory Monteith reportedly feels overworked and underpaid and is allegedly fighting the good fight against the show’s creators on behalf of the whole cast.

According to New York Post, the 29-year-old actor who plays Finn Hudson in Fox’ mega-hit musical comedy series, is butting heads with the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, over the cast’s work schedule and earnings from Glee CDs, tours, and the show itself.

“Cory was the show’s golden boy but has most recently been the most vocal member of the cast complaining. He feels they are being overworked. They were filming and toured without any time to recover,” according to sources.

“He’s become a de facto leader complaining to Ryan Murphy [for the cast], who they feel should give them a bigger share of the show’s success. But Ryan thinks Cory is causing trouble.”

Cory had previously voiced his frustrations with Glee and the top-selling CD he had performed on: “I got 400 bucks from it going No. 1. But you know what, that’s OK, because if I’m patient, and if this thing does really well, maybe I’ll see another 400 bucks,” he said.

According to the New York Post, Ryan has threatened to cut Cory out of a planned Glee spin-off and to stop the production of a comedy that he’s set to star and produce in.

A Glee spokesperson says there was no truth to the story, and a rep for Monteith echos the sentiment by saying, “For the record, [this] is completely fabricated, I would imagine the result of lingering rumors from last month but not based in truth whatsoever. Cory is back on set and very happy to be there.”
