BIZARRE BUT TRUE.

One of the perks of being a celebrity is to make crazy dough endorsing various products. From T-Mobile, to Coke, to Allstate Insurance, major companies seek out famous people to plug their products for the cool factor.

But not Abercrombie & Fitch. And not when it comes to the cast of Jersey Shore.

The clothing company known for its risque ad campaigns has stated in a news release that having Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and his Jersey Shore castmates in A&F clothing could cause “significant damage,” if not irreparable harm to their brand.
Abercrombie feels any connections to The Situation will go against the “aspirational nature” of its brand and may be “distressing” to potential customers. They feel so strongly that they are offering a “substantial payment” to the cast and producers of the MTV show if he will abuse another brand instead. MTV declined comment today.
Here is the entire A&F statement:
“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans. We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s ‘The Jersey Shore’ to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”
