On Monday July 11th episode of The Bachelorette, Ashley Hebert had to narrow her men down to four for a hometown date for the opportunity to meet the men’s families.

ONE ON ONE DATE: CONSTANTINE
Constantine got the first one on one date in Taipei, Taiwan–but there was no rose to be given at the end of the date like there normally is. Set against the clue, “Let Your Love Light Shine,” the couple headed out to the Taiwanese countryside on an old fashioned steam engine train and arrivde in a quaint village where they took in the sights. Ashley said their relationship has been developing slowly but she is willing to be patient with him.

They took part in a local custom of decorating a paper lantern with their wishes and releasing the lantern in the air so their wishes comes true. The two created a lantern with marital objects painted on it (and funny enough, a stray dog walking by it peed on it, making Ashley joke that the couple was doomed).

She told Constantine at dinner that physically, he is what she looks for in a man. Which is funny since he looks just like Ben F. He told her she will get to know the real him when he is on the hometown date and around his family. He told the camera, he is at that point of the relationship to take things a step further and is open to the idea of marrying Ashley. With that, they released their lantern and kissed.

ONE ON ONE DATE: BEN F.
Ben F.’s one on one date clue was, “Let’s Spend A Gorges Day Together in Taiwan.” He met Ashley at a national park. They rode a moped on curvy roads, past majestic waterfalls and magnificent lush green mountains. At dinner, Ben F. finally expresses his true feelings for Ashley and that he is starting to fall in love. Ashley tells the camera she feels like she is falling in love with Ben and thinks of him as her boyfriend.

The men wake up in the hotel room the next day and notice Ben did not come back to his room over night. J.P. is pissed off. Ben came back and told the men that nothing “physical happened that you need to know about.” J.P. gets so steamed, he leaves the room.

THREE ON ONE DATE: JP, AMES, LUCAS

The next date is a three-on-one date with J.P., Ames, and Lucas. The men met Ashley in Taipei’s world famous photography district. Once again this season, just like she did with William on their first date, Ashley made her dates take part in a wedding –this time, the men dressed up in traditional wedding attire and took customary Taiwanese wedding photos with her. JP continued to get mad and sad as he watched Ashley kiss the other two men on the date. Lucas was upset because his traditional wedding attire was a long dress with flowers on it.

JP told Ashley he had a hard week hearing about and watching Ashley’s dates with the other men. Ashley stopped JP and said she would be right back. She went and got the rose from the other room and gave it to JP, saying he broke her heart when he told her he had a rough week. Of course that calmed JP’s nerves.

ONE ON ONE DATE: RYAN
Ryan finally got his first one on one date with Ashley and the clue was, “Let’s get a taste of Taipei.” The two go to a local temple and then to the historic Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Square. Ryan’s never ending optimism started to get on Ashley’s nerves though I don’t think she’d ever admit to it. She did say to the camera that she did not feel the same passion with Ryan as she does with the other men.

When Ryan talked about the hometown date, Ashley broke down and told him he is her perfect guy but no matter how much she looks for it, she can’t find romance in their relationship and doesn’t see him as her husband. Ryan was shocked, “You don’t want to meet my family, and…?” Ashley replied, “I am just not feeling it, I am not.” She said she wanted to be honest with him and not put him through a rose ceremony. With that, she sent him home.
