Alex Lambert Of “American Idol” Homeless?

This past Monday I was at Nordstrom at The Grove and saw a handsome young man sitting on a couch in the shoe department for a long time.

I knew I had seen that sweet face on TV before, but could not place him. Then it hit me today. It was Alex Lambert, the guy with the soulful voice who got kicked off of last season’s American Idol way too early.

It turns out, the same day I saw him, he sent this sad message via Twitter:

“I’ve been kinda homeless! O my goodness yall! Ive been crashin on the street and behind buildings. I have a choice to stay and pursue my career or go back to texas and not do music! I’m usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have!”

In response, a spokesperson for 19 Entertainment responded to Lambert’s situation:

“He’s not homeless. He’s on a retainer, and he’s getting money every month. He’s working on demos. He’s with writers, he’s working on music. He’s not homeless. How could he be texting? How could he be going into [the] recording studio and sleeping on the streets? There’s no record deal yet, but hopefully something could come from [these demos].”

So, in response, Alex Tweeted:

“Sorry for the miscommunication. I’m just fine. The money that I was makin and have made I have sent home for my Mother and my 3 broke ass brothers sleepin on the ground! I just wanted the people that loved me to know what was really goin on. I know a lot of people think I tweeted my living situation for publicity! But I don’t give a damn about fame! I’m real! And I don’t lie! and I would never lie to y’all! (y’all being my supporters who got my back through thick and thin) Fu– yeah I was … sleepin outside! That shi- sucks too! I’m goin back home to get my shi- together! But I will be back! And I’m comin strong! LETS DO THIS!”

Poor guy–he really does have the talent to make it, just seems like he is a bit short on the luck side of life. Amazing how things could have turned out differently had he not been booted off of Idol too early. Good luck Alex, hope to run into you again kid.
