Snipes was found guilty of tax evasion in 2008 for failing to file a tax return for several prior years and owing the government $12 million dollars.

Snipes appealed the sentencing as being “unreasonable” and has been out on bond since the appeal. But a federal appeals court denied Snipe’s appeal this summer and Snipes had been waiting to hear of the commencement date of his sentence.
