Black Swan is a huge hit at the box office. And surprisingly so for a ballet movie, it is a huge draw with men and women alike. Even critics love it. How can a ballet movie accomplish these feats? If you ask Natalie Portman, she will tell you it’s because everyone loves lesbian sex scenes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Black Swan actress said: “Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie. I remember them being like, ‘How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller?’ And the answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that.”
Natalie also tells the magazine about how intense the role was for her in general. “There were some nights that I thought I literally was going to die,” Natalie says. “It was the first time I understood how you could get so wrapped up in a role that it could sort of take you down.”
