Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger married on July 1st in a romantic Gothic-themed ceremony in a French medieval castle. In keeping with the theme and the couple’s eclectic style, the Sk8er Boi beauty wore a stunning black Monique L’hullier wedding gown whilst her groom looked dapper in a Gothic-inspired black suit. 

Their wedding is officially featured in a spread with Hello! magazine with exclusive pictures and interviews. Talking to Hello! the couple opened up about their relationship and their special day.

Avril said she had “goosebumps from head to toe” when she walked up to her groom at the altar and her “eyes filled with tears.” She added, “It’s a moment I will never forget as long as I live.

“My body was overtaken by emotion. I saw him and he was so calm and happy. He had a tear coming down and he wiped it away. I felt so good walking to him. It made me feel like a complete woman.”

Chad explained why he proposed after one month of dating saying that ‘it felt like the stars had aligned. It felt like fate was intervening and I was being given this wake up call: don’t let this one get away’. Meanwhile Avril said she was ‘single for the first time and was like woo hoo ready to party. Then –bam – it just happened’.

The couple have been photographed continuing their European love fest by honeymooning and enjoying a romantic boat ride in Portofino. Ain’t love grand!
