If you have curly, untamed and naturally frizzy hair, you wonder, what is the difference between a Brazilian Blowout and a Keratin treatment.

At least that’s what I used to wonder about. So, I asked celebrity hairstylist Alina Ratta for the answer because she really knows her stuff. HOW? She is an expert in hair straighteners and tamers, and specifically in both of these types of treatments and tests everything on herself first before working on her clients. And look at her luscious locks in the photo above. It’s obvious that she knows a thing or two about making hair look its best!

Here is the scoop Alina gave me, in her own words. And before you read, let me tell you. I myself have naturally curly and frizzy hair and have struggled with styling it for my entire life. For the past few years, I have underwent one taming treatment after another. My last one was a Brazilian blowout done by Ms. Alina herself. And I can’t tell you what a wonderful job she’s done–it’s been by far the best treatment I have ever had. Not a day goes by that I don’t get a compliment on my hair. And it’s been 6 weeks since the treatment. Read what Alina has to say below and if you go to get your hair done by her, make sure to mention CelebMagnet and you will get a special discount off of your first treatment!!

OK, OK, back to the difference between a Brazilian Blowout and a Keratin treatment. Here’s Alina:

“I’m a hairstylist working in Beverly hills, and to say a hair product changed my life is a little dramatic, but the truth is the Brazilian blowout has definitely made my life/hair easier to handle. I have/had frizzy curly hair, and to blow dry with some bounce used to take me an hour. With the Brazilian blowout, it now takes me 15 minutes. I have had both Keratin and the Brazilian in my hair and while they’re both amazing products. I choose the Brazilian blowout because it still leaves movement and wave, but no frizz.

The Keratin will leave the hair a lot more sleek with little to no bounce. But both of these products can be customized to the individuals needs. The Keratin will last up to 4-5 months with the only draw back being that it has to stay in the hair for 3 days when you first get the treatment and you can not get it wet or put it in a pony tail. You cannot get any kinks in it for the first three days before you wash it. The Brazilian blowout can be rinsed the same day but only lasts 12 weeks. Because these products don’t chemically change the structure of the hair, you can use them on color treated hair or highlights done on the same day as the procedure. I prefer to do that so the porosity of the hair is even.

Celebrities get these treatments too. Nicole Richie has been using the Brazilian blow out on a regular basis more to keep her hair in good shape. The less pulling with brushes, the less breakage, it’s more about maintenance and less work. Paula Patton also has the Brazilian to keep her hair looking smooth and silky.”
