Dancing With The Stars All-Stars Season 15 aired its third performance episode of the season tonight October 8, 2012. If you missed any of tonight’s dances, click here to watch them all!

On tonight’s show, each couple had to dance an “iconic number” from a previous DWTS season and make it his/her own. Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough decided to re-do Helio & Julianne’s season 5 Quickstep but do it “differently.”

Shawn and Derek decided to risk the judges’ approval and play for the audience vote by breaking every rule in the books.

Their acrobatic Quickstep to “Hey Pachuco” from The Mask had it all going on: Trampolines, tricks, splits, falls from stairs into the orchestra section, lifts, tumults, and jumps. You name it. Probably all against the DWTS rules (The judges did not state which rules specifically were broken but lifts are definitely not allowed).

But guess what? The judges loved them anyway. They even got a standing ovation from Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Len Goodman had to be more restricted because of the many rules broken.

Here are the judges’ comments for Shawn and Derek’s Quick Step:

Len: “Your ability to interpret music into movement is incredible. This was fantastic. But, I have to drop a point for breaking the rules but I did really enjoy it.”

Bruno: “That was incredible, spectacular and unforgettable. One of the best dances, if not THE best dance I’ve seen in 15 seasons. You broke the rules, but my God I am never gonna forget this dance.”

Carrie-Ann: “That was by far the best dance we have ever seen, but I do have to slam you for the breakage of the rulage but you did blowage my mindage! That was amazing!”

Scores: Carrie Ann: 9 Len: 8 Bruno: 9.5 = 26.5/30 – put them in third place behind Kelly and Melissa.
