Simon Cowell Blasts NBC, The Voice As “Cynical & Cold Hearted”

We’re only a couple of days into the fall TV season and already there is a huge feud brewing between The X Factor and The Voice.
And Simon Cowell is angry.

The X Factorpremieres Wednesday, September 12. That’s been in the books forever. But, all of the sudden, NBC announces a special Wednesday episode of The Voice – out of the blue. The X Factor judge and creator sees this as a clear attempt by NBC to hurt The X Factor.

Cowell is beside himself mad because he says he had a “gentleman’s agreement” with NBC for the two shows to air on different days of the week. He says The Voice’s airing of an episode during X Factor’s season premiere is “cynical, cold-hearted” and an “unprofessional way of doing business.”
Simon never minces his words.

Cowell elaborated on his anger to TMZ calling this move a “dirty” last second trick by NBC and thinks one of X Factor’s new judges is going to be just as mad.

Britney [Spears is] not going to appreciate the fact that Christina – who has been a bit of a rival – isn’t allowing Britney to have a night of her own.”

Simon thinks NBC is doing this because they’re afraid of getting killed by The X Factor as they were in England when they aired The Voice there against Simon’s other show, Britain’s Got Talenet.

“The reason they’ve done this is they don’t want people to see X Factor because they’ve heard how good the series is. They don’t want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don’t want their audience to see Demi Lovato.”

I don’t know if it’s dirty play Simon…I call it a smart move. But hey, doesn’t everyone own a DVR anyway? So, we can watch both shows Simon. And everyone can be happy. Chillax!

  1. It seems silly to me that Simon would care. It’s just business, and it’s only one week. Besides, this is exactly why they made DVRs. I’m planning to use my Hopper to record The X-Factor while I watch The Voice next Wednesday. I’m addicted to shows like this and I’m glad I have a system that makes it easy for me to watch them both. It really is not a big deal. Everything about this just seems like publicity stunt to me. I’m more excited about The Voice than The X-Factor, to be honest. My Dish co-workers and I are all addicted to it and love to discuss it the day after. Hopefully both shows will produce some talented contestants, though. That way everybody wins.
