BREAKING NEWS: 67-year old iconic Iranian fashion designer Bijan Pakzad has died after suffering a stroke Thursday night.Valla Jewelry designer and one of Bijan’s best friends, David Sedgh, gave these details. On Thursday, Bijan was not feeling well. His business manager told him to stay home and relax. He insisted in coming in the store in the afternoon. Once at the store, Bijan was in the other room on the telephone when his manager heard a thumping noise. She rushed to the room only to have found Bijan collapsed on the floor.
Bijan was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He was diagnosed as having had a brain stroke and underwent surgery but never recovered. His family had to have Bijan removed off of life support machines at 8:05 AM Saturday.
Private funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 PM in Newport Beach, CA near his parents’ burial place. A public memorial service will likely be held Saturday, April 30 at UCLA.
Jimmy Delshad, former two-time mayor of Beverly Hills and also of Iranian heritage like Bijan, Tweeted earlier: “It is with sadness in my heart that I share the terrible news of Bijan passing away. May he rest in peace.”
Bijan was the designer to the rich and famous. His clients included some of the world’s most powerful men such as Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, and Anthony Hopkins, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, U.S. Senator John Kerry, and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Tony Blair.
