James Franco has surfaced and publicly talking about his Oscars gig for the first time. And guess what? He is blaming his co-host Anne Hathaway as the reason why he looked stoned during the live broadcast.
On The Late Show With Dave Letterman Thursday evening, the actor told Lettermanwhy he appeared to be so lethargic.
Franco said, “People said I was under the influence.”
Letterman asked with a laugh, “Now why would they say that?”
“I’ve thought about it. I think I know why, because–I love her–but Anne Hathaway is so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway…she has a lot of energy.”
“Truthfully,” Franco added, “I haven’t watched it back, maybe I had low energy. I honestly played those lines as well as well as I could.”
