Romeo & Chelsie Hightower Bring Swagger To The Foxtrot On DWTS

On Tax Day, it was very appropriate that the April 18 episode of Dancing with the Stars was themed “Americana week,” meaning our duos had to dance either Latin or ballroom with an “all-American twist.”

Romeo and Chelsie Hightower danced the Foxtrot to New York, New York. Romeo was stoked because he’s already lasted longer than his dad Master P did on the show before he made his exit with a score of an 8. Yes, 8.
Romeo wanted to add swagger to the choreography and Chelsie agreed as long as they would do it the ’60s kind of swagger to go with the feel of the song.  Romeo looked sharp in his tuxedo and top hat. I swear I can’t help but smile when I watch these two dance. They melt me…just like the little town blues melt in NY, NY!

The lively duo duo melted the judges too as the couple received rave praises and got their best score to date. They finished the night in a three-way tie for second place. Here are the judges’ comments:
Len (9): “The parts in hold had control. And the parts you weren’t together had a lot of flare about it. There’s still bits and pieces that I am not 100% happy with. But I think you are on the right road because you are a very charming chap and you always come out and do a good job.”
Bruno (8): “Yes, you did have swagger, and spank and full of flavor. I’ve never see a Foxtrot so cheeky and so well-danced because you did all that but maintained the style of the dance. Well done.”
Carrie Ann (9): “I remember week one when you were resisting the ballroom and you did not want to go there saying ‘it’s not cool.’ That was so cool and so sophisticated. You have your own unique style. I have never seen anyone approach the ballroom like you have. Great job. Chelsie, good job.”

Dancing With The Stars: 4/18 Scores, Recap, Performance Videos

For the first time in three weeks, there were no falls or shoe breaks on Dancing with the Stars. Instead, it was a night of good old fashion great dancing! Well, not so old fashion. But just some amazing dancing.

On Tax Day, it was very appropriate that the April 18 episode was themed “Americana week,” meaning our duos had to dance either Latin or ballroom with an “all-American twist.”

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson finished in second place last week and danced the Rumba to God Bless the USA Monday night. Kym said because of the patriotic nature of the song, she will tone down on the usual sexy raunchy choreography of this type of dance. Hines felt like a caveman in rehearsals because he head-butted his partner twice and dropped her a couple of times as well.
During the performance Hines was dressed in a white uniform ala Richard Gere style and looked just as dapper I must say. He also did a great job of twirling the sexified Kym every which way but loose. The duo once again floored the judges and ended the night in first place. This is how the judges gushed:
Bruno Tonioli (9):An Officer and a Gentleman. Ease of musicality and just the right amount of sensuality to make all the ladies swoon. Well plaaaayed.”
Carrie Ann Inaba (9): “Hines, you make it look so easy…You have the best hip action I have seen in a looooong time. And it was very romantic. It’s tough to do Proud to Be An American and then do the most sensual dance of the night. Good job.”
Len Goodman (9): “What I like is that it’s not false. It has a naturalness about it. It’s got an ease and an elegance about it which is charming. For me, that’s your best dance so far.”
Total score: 27

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas did the Samba to Miley Cyrus’ Party in the USA. Chelsea wanted to stay on top of the leaderboard and thought she can do so by breaking every single rule for the Samba. Mark, however, desided to keep it straight for once to show off Chelsea’s good technique. Chelsea wanted to prove her first place finish last week was no accident. She accomplished her goal, coming in a close second –then again, it’s a three-way tie for second place–but this dance was by far my fave dance of the night.

Chelsea is such a great dancer and so beautiful to look at, I sometimes forget to also check out Mark’s moves. But I made a point of paying attention to him too Monday night and he just floored me once again. He’s such an amazing talent and is simply mesmerizing to watch–there is a reason he’s coached two of his partners to winning the mirrorball trophy. OK, back to Chelsea. Here is what the judges had to say about her:

Bruno (9): “You had all the go for it, positive energy of America. And the sizzle and excitement of Brazil. The best of both worlds. And you are so clean. Your placement is so good. You are so tight. You are really really such a good dancer darling, you really are.”
Carrie Ann (9): “You guys dance so well together. Your attributes match perfectly. I think this was fantastic, again.”
Len (8): “Yum yum what a bum. Honestly. This was a party and I’m not talking a Tupperware party. This was real good fun….well done!”

Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke danced the Viennese Waltz to America The Beautiful and Chris said his mission was to get higher than a 7 from Len –the score he said he’s received 3 weeks in a row. Chris looked oh-so-handsome in his military getup and rocked the ballroom dance, thanks to his stellar posture and form. The duo put on an elegant and effortless number.  Chris then did his best impression of Len and announced he got an 8! Did Chris get a good score out of Len? Here is what went down from the judges panel:

Bruno (9): “Big, yet graceful. Strong, yet delicate of touch. With a sweeping sense of romance. It was absolutely wonderful!”
Carri Ann (9): “In some weird way, I feel like we have underestimated you. You are so good. Your technique is so amazing. You are a contender my friend.”
Len (8): “American week and it’s so nice to see Cheryl showing off the rocky mountains there.” Cheryl chuckles, turns beat read, covers her chest and turns her back and says, “I feel violated!” Len continues, “Let me tell you Chris. Week 1 you got a six [ouch!] And when you deserve an 8, I will give you one. It was a little flatfooted. Your hold and your posture was good. But you will get an 8 when you deserve an 8.”Oh Len…you had us all going! The big grump did make Chris’ day and gave him an 8!

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced the Foxtrot to American Woman. Kirstie said in rehearsals, “Everyone says there is no front runner,” and then continued with a pout, “I want to be the front runner.” Because of the mishaps this duo have experienced on the main stage the last two weeks, Kirstie enlisted the help of a “Dance Doctor,” John Travolta.
Dr. Travolta was more of a cheerleader than a physician. He told Kirstie to wear tennis shoes and get romantic with Maks because the public can feel the non-romance between the two. He finished his prescription by advising Maks to tell Kirstie he loves her more often. I gotta admit, I kinda like Dr. Travolta’s regimen. Kirstie was dressed all I Dream of Jeannie style during the dance and Maks was his usual shirtless hot self, but clad in black leather pants on the bottom. Well, except he had an American flag painted on his body. There were lots of gyrations and flirtations and a whole lot of sexiness.
Carrie Ann (8): “Now, that was a different take on the Foxtrot. But it absolutely suited you. It was bold. It was ambitious. It was a little borderline crazy. It was magical. I think it was your best dance ever.”
Len (7): “Well it had attitude. There were lots of basic steps which I like to see. But the overall feel of it wasn’t my cup of tea. We are looking for excellence and there was little excellence about it.”
Bruno (8): “Oh the American woman and the Russsssssian gigolo.  The cold war is definitely over. I didn’t know you were so dirty. And I loved it. Yes, both of you. Are you taking direct bookings by the way, or do I have to talk to an agent?” Maks says, “I’m expensive!” Bruno shoots back, “I can afford it! And give me that doctor by the way. Loved it!”

Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel danced the Foxtrot to Yankee Doodle Dandy! In rehearsals,

Kendra says she’s not “f—ing afraid of elegance” and that Carrie Ann made her “feel like trash” when Carrie Ann said last week that the Playboy bunny is afraid of her sexy side. Quite frankly, I am tired of Kendra crying and complaining all the time and I don’t find her whining sexy. Then again, I am not a man, so, what do I know.

Louis patiently convinced Kendra that the judges provide harsh critiques because they want her to be at her best and to develop the necessary confidence to advance in the competition. Kendra finally said she saw the light.
These two had the honor of performing the show’s 1,000th dance and with that came a crap load of confetti strewn all over the place. Kendra promised America that she will put her “heart and soul” in the dance since we saved her from elimination last week. For the performance, the two were decked out in more red, white and blue that any two sane people should ever wear at any one given moment (boo hoo on me for sounding unpatriotic possibly). But Kendra did rebound from last week’s fiasco: She was more fun to watch and had more sass and flair, though she still ended up tied for last place anyway.  Here is what the judges said:
Len (7): “Good news. It’s much better than last week. You came out and enjoyed yourself. It was fun and it was entertaining. Well done.”
Bruno (7): “Sweet as apple pie and much more in character. When you perform on stage on camera, you have to be in it…I can still see you thinking it. You have to stop that.”
Carrie Ann (7):  “This is the most confident I’ve ever seen you. I know these comments are hard to hear. But whenever we are commenting, we’re always trying to help you. And look what it did. You were confident. You were a fighter. Most patriotic dance of the night.”
Total Score: 22

Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff: Danced the Samba to Sweet Home Alabama. Ralph chuckled, “I’m a New Yorker. Karina is Russian. We’re dancing the Samba about Alabama. It’s perfect!” Ralph looked cute all Howdy Doody’d up. The judges placed my adorable Daniel-San in the bottom tonight – I never understand why they are so harsh on him. Perhaps they wanted to punish Karina for posing in Playboy earlier this week. Here is what the judges had to say:

Len (7): Called Ralph inconsistent saying he’s great one week and not so much the next. “You got to get hip. You got to get rhythm. It’s not terrible but lacked a lot of the qualities we’d like to see.”
Bruno (7): “Yes, It’s American night. And the line dance and the two-step was very very good. But we’re looking at a Samba. It needs fire down below man [As Bruno looked down at his own crotch]. You have to get these hips going. Get the lines going. You have to get the loins going [As Bruno slaps his own butt].  You do a character really really well. But we need to get a Latin feel. Give me sex man. Give me sex.”
Carri Ann (8): “Excuse me you two [looking at her fellow judges]. It’s Americana week. OK, mixing the Samba element with the celebration of Americana to Sweet Home Alabama is a crazy concoction and it’s a tall order but I think that was a great entertaining performance…It was probably your most vivacious performance ever.”

Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin danced the Quickstep to Elvis’ Viva Las Vegas. Petra admitted she had no idea who Elvis was when she was growing up in Czechoslovakia, under a communist influence. Petra felt like a kangaroo in rehearsals but said with the Quickstep she’d like to thank America for the dreams she’s been able to accomplish here. AW, can she possibly get any sweeter??
Their routine is way too fast for Petra and she has a couple of minor slip-ups. But as usual, she brought her smile, her charm and her unending grace to the dance floor.
Carrie Ann (7): “Petra I love watching you. You have come so far. Your confidence has grown. But tonight I feel like you took a bit of a setback. Only because you had some stumbles. You guys got out of sync. It’s a tough dance.”
Len (7): “It’s a very fast dance and I think you coped very well with the speed of the music. Your head…you have a lovely neck. Your head sometimes gets a bit cranky. Too forward to the left. You just have to refine the dance. But you have quite the potential but you have to work on a few things.”
Bruno (8): “I disagree with the two of them. First, this was very very difficult and very very fast. You were like a golden goddess of speed. You had lines that could rival Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini put together. Obviously the handling was sometimes a bit dodgy…there were a couple of foot faults but the quality was very good.”
Total score: 22

AND, here is the leaderboard:

Hines Ward & Kym Johnson: 27

Chris Jericho & Cheryl Burke: 26
Romeo & Chelsie Hightower: 26

Celebrity Apprentice Recap Summary 4/17

Celebrity Apprentice Recap Summary April 17, 2011.
On tonight’s Celebrity Apprentice, the players had to create a 20-minute live cooking demonstration for Omaha Steaks, making three-occasion specific meals.
The project managers were *GULP* Gary Busey and Hope Dworaczyk. Hope is a vegetarian but when Donald Trump asked her, “Are you a meat eater?” she said, “I’m from Texas, so, yes!” Liar!

MORE: WATCH GARY BUSEY TALK TEAM BACKBONE ON JIMMY KIMMEL!

Gary named Meat Loaf the chef without asking him if he even knows how to cook – which Meat Loaf doesn’t. Perhaps Gary assumed being named Meat Loaf means one is good in the kitchen but who knows what goes on in Busey’s mind. What was even worse is that no one came to join Meat Loaf in the kitchen, leaving all the work on the non-cooker’s shoulders.
Lil Jon had absolutely no tasks assigned to him which pissed off Meat Loaf and Lil Jon equally. When Ivanka Trump came to check on the men, she pulled Meat Loaf aside who told her he had no idea what was going on and who was doing what. She asked him if he was a good cook and he said, “No.” Then Lil Jon ran out and begged Ivanka to “Save me please. Take me with you!” Ivanka told the camera that she felt like she had walked into a “group therapy session!”

On the women’s side, Hope wanted to host the show. Star Jones wanted Marlee to host one of the demonstrations because Star just can’t sit quiet and take assignments and listen. The women were surprisingly making some great meal selections and task assignments despite their lack of unity. Once they arrived at their test kitchen, they were all happy with the setup. The original menu was two steaks and a seafood meal, with La Toya Jackson having been tasked with making one of the steak meals. Ne Ne Leakes voiced her concerns that one of the steaks should be changed to a burger. So, Hope told La Toya to change her menu and cook a burger instead. La Toya deemed this last minute change as another tactic to give her a task at which to fail.

The men of Team Backbone were all simply stated, confused. Gary was all over the place and made no sense when giving instructions or speaking. Lil Jon was finally given a task: He had to cut up paper. John Rich was working on Meat Loaf’s menu but Gary came over and took charge and made changes. He told John to “Sit down boy!”

On the women’s side, La Toya who has grown up with chefs and cooks all her life instead of learning how to cook for herself starts a small fire in the pan, and NeNe actually says, “Oh my gosh, she’s trying to do the Michael Jackson on me!” No one gives credit to La Toya who is trying hard to do tasks she’s never had to do in her personal life, like cook a burger. Instead, NeNe goes behind her back and tells the camera that this is America and she can’t believe someone doesn’t know how to cook a burger.
On the big day of presentations, John comes to the rescue and helps Meat Loaf organize the food so that the cooking goes as smoothly as possible. Gary and Lil Jon work on making the Omaha Steaks variety packet look good by–get this–simply putting the meat into black tissue paper.

The women decide to not cook anything during the demonstration and just show off three finished meals instead. La Toya ran through her presentation as a test and Hope’s biggest piece of advice to her was to “speak up.” To the camera Hope said, “If she keeps baby talking, someone is going to smack her.” NeNe was getting frustrated because her test time was being cut and interrupted by having to wait for sign interpretation for Marlee Matlin. Hope was getting frustrated with NeNe because she’s “more nervous and gets more frustrated than anyone knows.” Despite all their cattiness, the ladies worked it out and did a pretty good job in cooking the meals.

Meat Loaf felt the most unprepared he has ever felt in his life. In addition, the menu was all wrong and listed the wrong sides and had typos. Gary tried to pin the mistakes in the menu on John and John would not take the blame. John instead blamed Gary for not proofing the menu and said instead of listening to him yesterday, he called him “boy.”
La Toya kicked ass on the actual presentation. But all Hope could muster is “La Toya wasn’t loud enough.” Star, NeNe and Marlee also did fantastic on their presentations. But NeNe still had to find a negative in the great day. “If we failed anywhere is because La Toya and Star did not cook [during the presentation]. I actually turned on my oven and cooked my lobster tails.”
Meat Loaf did a great job at the presentation despite not knowing how to cook. Gary actually was funny and put on the charm.

Donald Trump met with the Omaha Steaks executives and this is what they told The Donald:

“The men were extremely enthusiastic. And Meat Loaf is a terrific chef.”

“The women were terrific. They were very well organized. They obviously really worked as a team (HUH?!) and gelled as a team. But the women didn’t do as much live cooking as the men.” They called out NeNe for failing to say “Steaks” when naming “Omaha”.

The execs noticed that John and Lil Jon did not participate much. They liked Gary‘s narrative style but said he dragged it out too much.

In the boardroom things got ugly.
John called Gary‘s management style: “Catastrophic collapse of time management.” Meat Loaf actually said he likes Gary but said he felt overwhelmed with his task and said if it weren’t for John, there would have been no presentation.
Lil Jon started his review of Gary with: “I like Gary.” Then he went for the jugular, “But Gary is not always here on earth with us. He was orbiting the outer space for the last two days…I am dead ass for real. We were so frustrated. Like I didn’t get anything to do. He made me cut up paper. I felt like I was in kindergarten.” Gary just sat there, staring into space but did at the end speak up and say, “He helped me very much in arranging a package for the ultimate celebration package..” Lil Jon interrupted: “Putting tissue in a box? You’re a grown ass man, you’re supposed to be able to do that by yourself!”
The women all said Hope was a great project manager, except for NeNe who called her just “good.” Marlee said Hope was “spectacular!” La Toya said the team was unified and said she has made friends for life (WHAT?!?!?). Donald challenged her and asked her who she considers a friend and who she would see after the show. La Toya then back peddled and said if she called Star and Hope on the telephone, “I think they would say ‘hello’ and speak a little bit…And Marlee as well.” She did not name NeNe.

The women won yet again and actually looked like they were getting along well back in the suite. Well, I spoke too soon. There went NeNe telling the camera: “I was very happy for Hope. But I wasn’t feeling like celebrating because I keep getting a label in the boardroom. I don’t really like them. Really, of all the girls, I am the least negative, and I really can’t understand what I have done to be given a label.” Star stood up for NeNe saying she’s not a negative person and went over and consoled her. NeNe called La Toya a ‘bitch’ to Star for saying in the boardroom she would not call NeNe.

Back to the men in the boardroom. John said he had a problem being called a “boy.” Gary lied and said, “I didn’t call you a ‘boy.’ I said ‘KaBoy’ [Sidenote: or CaBoy–it’s a Busey-made up word so not sure on spelling!] like they call the Dallas Cowboys.” John said: “My name is John…I’m shocked I didn’t flip out but I reminded myself this is for charity.”
When Trump asked him which two of the men he wants to bring back to the boardroom, Gary said all three of his teammates “were excellent. It was catastrophic and chaotic and I don’t have a feeling to fire anyone.” After some more talk, Meat Loaf looked constipated. Trump asked, “Meat Loaf this is really bothering you? Well then Meat Loaf, you know what? I am gonna make you very happy…Gary, you are very talented, you’re very unique. You’re an amazing guy and Gary, you’re fired. Go.”
On his ride to never never land, Busey said his team just didn’t like him and were “determined” to kick him out despite how well he did. And then in pure Busey fashion he ended his time on the show by saying, “I can turn a thunderstorm and a tornado into a rainbow and I am flying over the rainbow tonight. Who knows, it could be true!” Ya, he really did say all that.

Tune in to Celebrity Apprentice next week because it looks like a great show down between NeNe and Star is in the works. And La Toya, who I must admit, I am falling in love with!

The Gary Busey-lead men’s team lost again – which came as no shocker. The person who Donald Trump fired is…. Gary Busey!

I Dream Of Jeannie’s Barbara Eden Tells All In Memoir (Photos)

The 1960’s I Dream Of Jeannie star Barbara Eden has penned a tell-all memoir called Jeannie Out of the Bottle which details the public and private tragedies accompanying her Hollywood fame, including intimate stories of two failed marriages and the heartbreaking loss of her only son to drugs.
Part pristine Hollywood princess and part classic bombshell, with innocence, strength, and comedic talent to spare, Barbara finally lets Jeannie out of her bottle to tell her whole story.
“Like Jeannie, I’ve been bottled up long enough — it’s time for me to pop the cork and talk about the amazing people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet along the way, and the highs and lows of my everyday living,” Barbara said in a statement about the then-impending book last year.
The book was published April 5 and Barbara was at Barnes & Nobles at The Grove in Los Angeles Saturday for a book signing and fan meet and greet. Enjoy the pictures from the event:

Nicolas Cage Arrested For Domestic Violence

I think a lot of people saw this one coming after Nicolas Cage was caught on tape recently having drunken rants.

Cage was arrested in New Orleans early Saturday morning after an alleged altercation with his wife Alice.

According to TMZ, the New Orleans Police Department states that Cage and Alice got into an argument on the street about the address of their rental home in New Orleans and Cage grabbed Alice by the arm to take her to where he thinks the two were staying.

Police arrived at the scene and only arrested Cage after he taunted the cops into doing so. “Why don’t you just arrest me?” he asked the officers. And they did for disturbing the peace and domestic violence.

Apparently it’s not a ‘Party in the U.S.A’ for Miley Cyrus anymore. Instead of keeping things local, Miley is headed to South America and Australia for her forthcoming Gypsy Heart Tour which is set to kick off on April 27.

But why is Cyrus fleeing the country? Turns out she isn’t feeling the love from America.

“I just think right now America has gotten to a place where I don’t know if they want me to tour or not,” she told Fox News. “Right now I just want to go to the places where I am getting the most love and Australia and South America have done that for me.”

But Miley is doing more than just touring abroad, she’s also withholding her music from her American fans — she released her cover, ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ in Australia and currently has no plans to bring it home.

As of yet, Cyrus will not be touring her new album, ‘Can’t be Tamed,’ at all in the U.S. Her American fans will have to splurge on a plane and concert ticket to see Cyrus live this summer.

Miley only wants to go “to the places where I get the most love. Don’t want to go anywhere where I don’t feel completely comfortable with it,” she said.

So what’s got the pop star so jilted on her mother country? We’ve got no clue. Her family drama seems to be mending itself — dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, just called of his divorce from wife, Trish — and her U.S. records sales have been through the roof. How’s that for showing some American love?

As for her family: “My family is good. They are stoked for tour. As long as I’m happy they are happy.”

It sounds like everything is swell in the Cyrus household but what’s one family who won’t be sharing in the happiness? Cyrus’ American fans. Cyrus would rather struggle through her subpar Spanish in South America.

“I Speak zero Spanish,” she said. “I actually failed Spanish so I will have someone with me making sure I can get through my way.”

Spotted: YouTube Sensation Rebecca Black (Photos)

Rebecca Black’s YouTube video, Friday, surpassed the 100 million view milestone this week. Believe it or not, it is now the 23rd most watched music video of all time on YouTube. And climbing.

And if that weren’t amazing enough for someone totally unknown a few weeks ago, it was reported recently that the cast of Glee will pay homage to the YouTube sensation by performing the song on an upcoming episode of the show.

How did Rebecca celebrate? She came to The Grove Friday for a chit chat with Mario Lopez of Extra. Here are some pictures of her after the interview:

Darren Criss Dishes On Start Of His Career And His Future

Glee star Darren Criss graces the upcoming cover of  Billboard magazine.

The accompanying story talks about Criss’ start in musical theater, a possible solo album and the Glee tour. Here are some excerpts:

Why he started in musical theater:
“For me, it was Disney. I remember seeing people’s reaction to ‘Aladdin’ and thinking, ‘Oh, man, I want to be a genie when I grow up!’ Robin Williams is a pretty big character in San Francisco. I was like, ‘I want to do whatever that guy does. What does he do, Mom? He’s an actor? OK, I want to do that.'”

About a possible solo album with Sony music:
“We’re working on it – we’re really excited and it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I’m so thrilled that it’s something that can happen because of ‘Glee,’ and like the Warblers album I hope I can do it justice and make it something that people can really enjoy.”

About playing at Staples Center:
“A year ago, I was so psyched that my first show in LA was at the Troubadour. Talk about so much for baby steps. It’s like, ‘Wait — Staples Center, are you kidding me?’ I was happy to drive around in a beat-up, crappy old van with my bandmates and just go to small clubs around the country.”
