Mark Wahlberg Gave Up Smoking Weed For His Kids

Mark Wahlberg admits he used to like smoking weed but gave it all up for his kids.

When accepting Variety’s Indie Impact Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival Saturday, The Fighter star joked that the trophy looked like a bong. That’s when he said: “I stopped smoking weed for my kids.”

“One day, we were driving and you could smell it from somewhere. My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk. Then she said, ‘Sometimes daddy smells like that!’ to me and my wife. So I knew I had to quit.”

Mark Wahlberg Spent A Lot Of Dough Training To Be A Boxer For “The Fighter”

Mark Wahlberg takes preparation for a movie role seriously. Very seriously indeed. He wanted to look like a pro fighter for his part in The Fighter so badly, that he spent his own money training for the part. And I mean a lot of his own money.

Mark just fessed up to spending $500,000 more than what he earned for the part to train with the best trainers in the world.

Wahlberg told Sports Illustrated: “There are many, many boxing movies, and I love most of them. But I knew that the thing that would set us apart was if the fights looked more real, and I looked more like a boxer than anyone else who’s done it in the past.

“I spent more money paying my trainers and having them travel with me than I got paid, by a good half a million dollars,” Wahlberg continued.

In hindsight, Wahlberg was right on the money! He was just nominated for Best Actor for a Golden Globe yesterday – and there is a ton of Oscar buzz to boot. Way to go hottie!

Watch Marky Mark Wahlberg In The Trailer for The Fighter

I love Mark Wahlberg, so, not sure I want to watch that beautiful face of his get pummeled on screen.

But, in case you don’t mind, below is the trailer for The Fighter, based on the early years of boxer “Irish” Micky Ward and his brother who helped train him before going pro in the mid 1980s.

The Fighter is directed by David O. Russell, of Spanking the Monkey, Flirting with Disaster, Three Kings, and I Heart Huckabees.

Paramount is bringing The Fighter to limited theaters starting on December 10th with an expansion the following week. The movie also stars Amy Adams and Christian Bale.

The Other Guys, Starring Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg–MOVIE REVIEW

MOVIE REVIEW.

Just when you think, “If you’ve seen one Will Ferrell movie, you’ve seen them all,” think again.

Ferrell is back! And he totally redeems himself from the flop that was Land of the Lost by giving one of his most genius performances to date.

It does help that Ferrell is partnered with hottie Mark Wahlberg who delivers a superbly-angst-ridden-yet-hilariously-gut-ripping performance. The movie is filled with fresh, sarcastic, and humorous one-liners, non-stop laughter, plenty of action, car chases, and explosions, and a complex plot with a thought-provoking political message. Just make sure you stay through the credits.

I cant’t remember the last time I laughed out this loud and this often in a movie theater. One early particular scene in the movie in which Ferrell and Wahlberg argue over whether a lion or a tuna would win in a fight against each other is so well acted and delivered that I was left gasping for air after laughing so hard. And don’t be too sure you know which would win such a fight, because Ferrell’s logic in this argument doesn’t go the way any of us could have imagined.

I watched this movie right after I saw the painfully boring Dinner for Schmucks. But that can’t be the only reason I loved this movie because the whole theater was laughing and clapping along with me, so much so, that I missed half the jokes due to the sheer volume of both.  I don’t know what else to say about this movie other than “Go see it–it’s by far the best comedy of the summer.”

VIDEO CLIP OF THE DAY.

When The Other Guys Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Adam McKay sat down to interview each other for Moviefone, nothing was off limits. Not even Will Ferrell’s ATM PIN number.
The three had no shortage of stories to tell about their co-stars and crew. Adam admits working with Sam Jackson was “the most afraid I’ve been to give anyone direction.”
Mark said: “I play golf with Sam and have hung out with him and I’m still kind of scared of him.”
When posed the question “Who would win in a fight between casts of The Other Guys Adam claims he could take out Scorsese in a brawl, no problem, while Will plans on giving Martin Sheen an elbow to the chops.
