American Idol sent one more hopeful home tonight on April 14, 2011. After 54 Million votes were cast, the bottom three were: Haley, Paul, Stefano.
SPOILER ALERT:
The contestant voted off and eliminated was Paul McDonald.
ABC confirmed today the long-heard rumors that All My Children and One Life to Live will both be cancelled shortly.
ABC’s other soap, General Hospital, will not be affected by ABC’s daytime changes.
The former Heroes star said, “I’m a fireman’s daughter. He used to tell me all the time when I went to the mall with my friends, ‘What do you do if somebody comes up and grabs you?’ He taught me to scream, ‘You’re not my daddy, you’re not my daddy’. So I had a lot of practice screaming, ‘You’re not my daddy.'”
On a somewhat similar note, the 5’1″ Hayden made headlines earlier this week when she told Ellen DeGeneres that the most embarrassing or rudest question people ask her most often is how she gets it on with her 6’6″ boyfriend, Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
“I get the rudest people coming up to me and they’re like, ‘does it work?’ ” she admitted to Ellen. “Yeah, it works. We find a way.”
Ellen said “I know what you’re talking about, but I’m in shock.”
Hayden responded, “Where there is a will, there is a way!”
Ellen expressed her disbelief that random people would ask such intimate questions. Hayden said, “They do. And they are very conservative people most of the time but they just have to know. ‘Like, I have to know, I just have to ask you this question. I’m really sorry but…’ ”
Hayden added, “I don’t mind it. I find it amusing.”
“Really?” Asked Ellen. “Then how does it work?” she joked.
April 13 – There were a couple of standout performances on American Idol Wednesday night, one of which was James Durbin’s rendition of Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar to close out the show.
Durbin made Idol history earlier this season when he sang the first-ever Judas Priest song on the show (You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’). On Wednesday’s performance night, he fought the good fight for rock and roll once again and went against the recommendations of mentors Jimmy Iovine and wil.i.am to perform Sammy Hagar’s hard metal tune. Durbin pleaded, “Give metal a chance!” in the preview package which aired before his performance.
I’ve said it once, and I will say it again. American Idol contestants sound much different when you hear them sing live on the Fox studio set than they do when we watch them on TV at home. They usually sound much better in person.
Case in point or shall I say Casey in point: I am a HUGE Casey Abrams fan. HUGE! However, his rendition of Nat King Cole’s Nature Boy just fell flat with me during Idol‘s Wednesday performance night.
Then again, I was watching it at home this week like most of America. Were you surprised to see the studio audience go absolutely wild for Casey’s rendition? If you were, it’s the live vs. TV factor differential.
The judges went nuts over Casey as well with all three joining the standing crowd to give Casey a unanimous standing ovation. Jennifer Lopez, the just-named world’s most beautiful woman, said Abrams brought “a special thing to music.” Randy Jackson said Casey gave a “Grammy-type performance…I thought it was brilliant. I thought it was absolutely genius.” Steven Tyler said Casey is an “artist in the truest sense of the word.” He compared him to Sting and told Casey “You took a song that my momma sang to me when I was a little boy and you took it and you did what’s in your heart regardless of what Jimmy told you.”
Casey picked the Nat King Cole classic despite Jimmy Iovine’s advice in rehearsals to choose something that could make him win like Phil Collins’ In the Air Tonight. Did he make the right choice or will this song selection cost him a shot at the Idol crown? Did you enjoy it at home and call in a vote in for him or were you shocked by the adulation you witnessed on TV?
What did you think of Casey’s performance? Watch it for yourself and let me know! In this video, you can also hear Casey speak about his favorite Gnocchi and meatballs dish at Cafe Aroma!
SPOTTED: Evan Longoria was at Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles Wednesday night for a book signing of her newly-published cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends.
Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott were at The Grove Wednesday for an interview with Mario Lopez of Extra. Earlier this week, Tori announced via Twitter: “I know there’s been a lot of speculation, so I wanted everyone to hear from me … It’s official … Dean & I are PREGNANT!!!!”
