Adam Levine Slams American Idol For “Masking” Gay Contestants

The Voice judge and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine can’t stand some things about his competition American Idol and in an interview with gay magazine Out, Levine, who has a gay brother, slammed AI for making its contestants allegedly “mask” their sexuality.

“What’s always pissed me off about ‘Idol’ is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken,” he said. “C’mon. You can’t be publicly gay? At this point? On a singing competition? Give me a break. You can’t hide basic components of these people’s lives. The fact that ‘The Voice’ didn’t have any qualms about being completely about it is a great thing.”

The Voice
featured several gay contestants on the show whereas gay contestants on Idol had to wait until after the competition to come out with their sexuality. Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, for example, admitted he was forced by FOX to keep his sexuality under wraps while filming season 8.

“It was hard for me because I wasn’t able to talk,” Lambert said. “So I was sitting there, going, I can’t really put in my two cents. It felt out of control, and feeling out of control is scary.”

Levine said: “I can single-handedly dispel any ideas that sexuality is acquired. Trust me, you’re born with it. My brother is gay, and we knew when he was two. We all knew.”

Sugarland Tweets About Tragic Concert Stage Collapse

Five people were killed and dozens were injured when a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair right before country band Sugarland was to perform on Saturday night. The cause is speculated to be inclement weather (high winds).

“The wind just picked up and the stage just caught and the roof just caught and it went up like a sail and then it crashed forward into the people standing in the front,” said a reporter for WANE-TV in Indiana.

“There were people trapped underneath and everyone was running and screaming. They were asking any medics or nurses not to leave.”

Sugarland
has since spoken out about the tragic incident via Twitter: “We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength.”

The concert’s opening act, Sara Bareilles, who performed before the collapse, also tweeted, “Please send love and prayers to Indianapolis tonight. My heart aches for the lives lost.”

Bareilles also apologized to fans in Iowa for canceling their show Sunday, writing, “Our apologies and gratitude to the people of Iowa for understanding our absence tonight from the scheduled show. We’ll hope to see you soon.”

Planet Of the Apes Still #1

The Apes still rule the box office. In its second weekend, Rise of the Planet of the Apes remained on top of the box office, taking in an estimated $27.5 million.

Even thought this amounts to only about 50 percent of what it earned during its opening weekend, the film still beat out all other movies to retain its #1 spot.

A surprising no. 2 film of the weekend was The Help, with an estimated $25.5 million in sales. Early predictions estimated that the movie would open around $18 million, but positive word-of-mouth generated after its Wednesday opening helped in the weekend sales of the movie.

Here is the list of the top 10 movies:

1. ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes,’ $27.5 million, $104.9 million total
2. ‘The Help,’ $25.5 million, $35.4 million
3. ‘Final Destination 5,’ $18.4 million, new release
4. ‘The Smurfs,’ $13.5 million, $101.5 million
5. ’30 Minutes or Less,’ $13.0 million, new release
6. ‘Cowboys & Aliens,’ $7.6 million, $81.5 million
7. ‘Captain America: The First Avenger,’ $7.1 million, $156.9 million
8. ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love,’ $6.93 million, $55.4 million
9. ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,’ $6.88 million, $357.0 million
10. ‘The Change-Up,’ $6.2 million, $25.8 million

Patrick Schwarzenegger Transforms Into Hudson Jeans Model

All we had heard about Patrick Schwarzenegger, the business-minded son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger until recently is that he has been spending his summer working hard as an intern at The Grove–a popular shopping center in Los Angeles–so that he could learn about the business of hotel management.

But wait! That’s not all. Unbeknownst to us all, Patrick has been playing model under cover this whole time. The 17-year old hottie, if I can call this teen that without getting in too much trouble, can now be seen on a giant billboard on Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard, one of the most famous streets in the world, pimpin Hudson Jeans.
Did I mention Patrick is shirtless as well which is ironic since he created his own clothing company, Project 360, consisting of a collection of t-shirts, hoodies in addition to sweats and jewelry. Patrick started the line as a vehicle to generate social awareness of important global issues such as Alzheimer’s Disease, cancer and children in need. Cool kid, huh?
Patrick recently Tweeted that he is heading to college soon. His choices? “Stanford, USC, Penn [and] Georgetown are my tops for now.” He is striking Harvard off of his list, saying “Great college, but I’m not adding it to the list.” I’d think this talented guy could get into any school he wants…

Hilary Duff Is Pregnant!

Hilary Duff just shared some very exciting news with her fans: She is pregnant with her first child!

The news comes on the heels of Hilary and husband Mike Comrie’s one-year wedding anniversary.

Hilary wrote on her official website: “Hello everyone! This weekend, Mike and I are celebrating our one year anniversary! In memory of the special day, we decided to post some of our favorite pictures from our wedding! I can’t believe it has already been a year, time really flies when you’re having fun! We also want to share the exciting news that BABY MAKES THREE!!! We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives. Thanks to everyone for the continued love and support throughout the years!”
Hilary had just said back in October that she is in no rush to start a family. “Mike has a huge family and we have four dogs, we’re excited but we’ve only been married 6 or 7 weeks. Plus he’s away all the time. Maybve when he is done.”
Congrats to the happy couple.

Kristin Stewart: “I F’in Love Me A Vampire”

Yes, you are seeing correctly. That is the usually low key and grungy looking Kristen Stewart, looking all glam on the cover of W Magazine’s September issue.

See what a bit of Hollywood smoke and mirrors can do for you? In the accompanying interview, Kristen opens up about the upcoming Breaking Dawn film and the much anticipated wedding scene in particular.

Here are some excerpts of what Kristen had to say:

On being attracted to Twilight
“I f—— love me a vampire [Laughs]. I was 17 when I read Twilight, and at the time it was so perfect for me. The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can’t. And they’re going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous – and we girls like to test ourselves.”

On the much-anticipated wedding scene:
“Awesome. This was my first wedding. It was insane. And odd. The wedding dress experience was a huge deal. I tried on one version of the dress, and it was like tweak and tweak and alter and tweak and change, and then it’s done. BFD dress. Huge deal.”

On whether she watches herself onscreen:
“It’s not like I sit around watching my movies again and again, but I’ve never quite believed actors when they say they don’t watch themselves. I hear them going around the block to make excuses for why they don’t watch their work. It’s bulls—. Sorry, guys – I know you watch your stuff.”
