Yesterday’s tragic elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut stunned our nation and Hollywood has taken notice. In addition to the hundreds of celebrity tweets about the horrific event, television networks and film studios have scrambled to rearrange their schedules and shelf potentially sensitive episodes of several popular programs.

Fox has decided not to air Sunday night’s new episodes of “Family Guy” and “American Dad.”  The network decided not to broadcast the episodes titled “Jesus, Mary and Joseph!” and “Minstrel Krampus,” due to potentially sensitive content.

Fox is not the only network adjusting its programming to avoid potentially offensive content, yesterday, Syfy pulled an episode of the series “Haven” that featured fictional high school violence. The scheduled episodes of “Family Guy” and “American Dad” will be replaced by repeats of previous episodes. Fox will also replace a repeat episode of “The Cleveland Show” that was scheduled to air on Sunday for another rerun of that series due to the same concern.  In addition, the premieres for feature films such as “Jack Reacher” starring Tom Cruise and the Bette Midler, Billy Crystal comedy “Parental Guidance” have also been postponed.
