PHOTOS: Melissa McCarthy On Oscars Red Carpet: What Special Inscription Lined Bottom Of Her Shoes?

Melissa McCarthy walked the Red Carpet at the Academy Awards Sunday in a custom blush colored Marina Rinaldi gown with a jeweled neckline detail.

The Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee told E!‘s Ryan Seacrest that her Oscar gown had an added special touch, courtesy of A-list shoe designer Brian Atwood.

“My dear, dear friend Brian Atwood made my lovely handbag and fantastic shoes for me and wrote a message to me on the bottom.” The inscription? ‘To my best friend Melissa McCarthy.’ The actress explained, “We’ve been dear friends since high school. I read the [note] and started crying.”

Melissa McCarthy Shines In SNL Hosting Debut & Delivers The Ratings

YAY FOR GIRL POWER! AND, way to go Melissa McCarthy!

As a first time host on Saturday Night Live this weekend, not only did McCarthy deliver a funny physical performance in every skit, but she also, with help from musical guest, Lady Antebellum, drew a solid 5.2 rating/13 share in metered-market households.
That’s a 2% increase from SNL‘s season premiere last week (5.1/13), which was Alec Baldwin’s record 16th turn as host.
Yesterday’s SNL also was up 8% vs. the same night last year.
Now, that’s what I call, KICK ASS!

Melissa McCarthy To Launch Plus-Size Fashion Line

Known for her comedic roles, the Bridesmaids and Mike & Molly actress, Melissa McCarthy, is using her fame to help other plus-size women dress like stars!

After co-designing the dress she wore to the Emmys with couture dressmaker Daniella Pearl, McCarthy, who says she sifted through “9 million dresses with taffeta or shiny bows,” has decided to create a clothing line for women with similar body types.
“Trying to find stuff that’s still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle.”
