Hines Ward Sends Message To His DWTS Fans

The winner of Dancing with the Stars, Hines Ward, sent this message via his Facebook page to his fans:

“OMG! I can’t believe it! First I want to say THANK YOU to all my fans and Steeler Nation, Bulldog Nation, and HineKym Nation for voting us to the Mirror Ball Trophy victory. Kym (Johnson) and I worked our butts off in this competition. Hats off to Kirstie/Maks and Chelsea/Mark each well deserving of the Mirror Ball. But you fans pushed us over the top. Kym and I are so thankful. Pittsburgh is back on the map! Hope I represented well. I still can’t believe it! Hines”

Here is what Hines told the LA Times:

“I knew Kym was gonna try to do all that she could to win for us [despite injured neck], for me. I felt good. I don’t have any problems with my hands and I knew I could hold her up with lifts and not let her fall.”

“I mean, I use my hands for a living. If you remember, when Kym got injured she was not in the air. She was already on the ground. So I felt OK with lifting her, ’cause I had no plans to ever let her fall. And I felt good doing them with her.”

How does he compare the DWTS win to his Super Bowl wins? “I don’t think you can really compare the two. They are equally important to me. They mean different things. Winning the Super Bowl symbolized being the best in my profession.”

“That, along with winning the Super Bowl MVP is the ultimate goal both individually and as a team. It says we are good at what we do as professionals. Winning the mirror ball trophy symbolizes overcoming my fear of the unknown.”

“It says that I was able to excel at something I knew nothing about, to rise above difficulty and take risks. Both prove hard work pays off. Both are special.”

Video: Hines Ward & Kym Johnson Overcome Serious Injury & Wardrobe Malfunction To Score Two Perfect 30’s

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson faced seemingly insurmountable odds on Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars after Kym suffered a horrible looking injury in practice only three days before.

But they gracefully overcame those odds by landing not only the first 30 of the season on their first dance, but following that up by playfully earning yet another 30 on their second dance for a perfect score of 60 for the night.

During the performance of the Argentine Tango to the song Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps by Cake, the duo sizzled and their undeniable chemistry sent heatwaves through the dance floor. Both Hines and Kym were in emotional tears when the dance was successfully finished without further incident.

Between the judges’ comments, Kym and Hines kept hugging each other and crying, so much so that Kym nearly had a wardrobe malfunction. Tom Bergeron went to Kym and told her to pop in her right breast which was about to pop out of her costume.

Len Goodman (10): “I was there in the club watching the whole story unfold. I was peeping behind the curtain. We were all there. The floozy coming down the stairs. The legs were like something from the Kama Sutra. Now, that is a Tango.”

Bruno Tonioli (10): “Every emotion was out there for the taking. The battle of the wills between the man and the woman. Who is going to be the dominant partner. Who is going to relinquish all resistance. Who is gonna end on top. It was like good sex. You never want it to end.” And again, Hines and Kym went back to hugging each other.

Carrie Ann Inaba (10): “I’m just happy you’re OK, cause that was a serious injury [holding back tears]. I am so impressed with the routine and the way you [Kym] danced the routine. But mostly, I am so impressed Hines by the way you partnered her through that routine. Because that routine would have been very dangerous for her and I saw the way you supported her and the connection was just beyond what we ask for in a dance routine. This is someone really taking care of her dance partner out there and the dance was stunning. Excellent job.”
TOTAL SCORE FOR FIRST DANCE: 30

Watch their Argentine Tango And Kym’s ALMOST WARDROBE MALFUNCTION below.

Hines and Kym were ever so playful on their second dance of the night, the Salsa to Hello by The Cat Empire.
Len (10): “You were steamin and I was beamin. It was just a joyful experience.”
Bruno (10): “Hines, just one sentence can describe you: ‘You are beautiful, man. Beautiful person, great ability, great versatility and supremely watchable.”
Carrie Ann (10): “I can’t even explain how much joy I get when you dance.”

Here is their Salsa to Hello by The Cat Empire and Hines’ back story. TOTAL SCORE FOR SECOND DANCE: 30, landing them in second place for the night.

Video: Kym Johnson Injured On Dancing With The Stars

Last Friday Dancing with the Stars pro Kym Johnson got inured during rehearsals when she fell during a flip and her partner Hines Ward landed on her. Miraculously, she was feeling so much better that she performed on Monday night’s episode and the duo scored two perfect 30’s.

Here is the video of her fall and injury – It’s sweet that Kym is worried about teaching the dance to Hines instead of her own injury:

FOR LATEST UPDATE, SEE BOTTOM, To See the video of the fall, click here.

Extra reports that Dancing with the Stars pro Kym Johnson has been injured during rehearsals with her partner, Hines Ward, when the duo fell during rehearsals.

A rescue ambulance was dispatched to the DWTS rehearsal studios. Johnson was seen on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on her face as she was taken to the hospital.

Johnson’s rep told Extra, “Kym injured herself during rehearsals today, she was taken to hospital for precautionary measures, to assure she is OK.”

UPDATE 5/15 5:10 PM PT: Hines Ward said via Facebook: “Man, Kym is a SOLDIER! She’s dancing in her neck brace and will not quit! I want to do my best for her because she’s busted her tail to get me where I am today. To me, she is one of us and exemplifies the Steeler way. So thanks the prayers and continue to keep voting for us because every point counts. When we get thru this week because of your VOTES, we intend to bring home the Mirror Ball!”

Kym Tweeted: “I feel so incredibly blessed and lucky not to be injured worse and to have the most caring sweet partner in Hines.. Love @mvp86hinesward”

UPDATE 5/14: Kym Tweetd: “I’m feeling better today and I am so happy my Mom is here with me. Thanks again everyone for all the lovely messages..”
UPDATE 5/13 8:45 PT: Kym just Tweeted:
“Thank you everyone for your concern, love and support. I’m a little shaken up, sore but I will be fine.”
“I want to give a special thanks to everyone at Cedar Sinai. The Doctors, Nurses and Staff were so amazing..”

Hines himself took to FB:
“I want to update you on my partner Kym. Kym was admitted to the hospital today after falling and injuring her neck during our practice. After several tests, she was cleared by the medical staff but she is bruised, sore and wearing a neck brace right now. Kym plans to continue with me in the competition and get back to rehearsals as soon as possible. Steeler Nation – please show her some love. She is awesome! Hines.”

So, there you have it, Kym is thankfully OK and the duo WILL continue in the competition. Get better Kym!
