Actress Vanessa Hudgens has teamed up with Adopt a Classroom and Kohl’s CARES to delight deserving students with a huge surprise during their first week of school.

Yesterday, Vanessa was on hand as every K-12 student (nearly 2,000) from The Accelerated School in South Central Los Angeles received a brand new pair of sneakers to start off the school year with their best foot forward.

“It’s important for kids to have nice new sneakers,” Vanessa told Us Weekly about the program, adding “It makes them feel confident and approach the school year with a fresh start.” The program also provided teachers with $600 gift cards to buy supplies. “You want to feel on point!”
